No cell phones, no electricity, no hassles. Worth the hike for one of the most beautiful places in the world. Highly recommend. Full course meal for dinner. Friendly staff and beautiful views. Not heated but the beds are super warm with feather comforters. So glad we went.

Set in a remote and peaceful spot at the end of the Lauterbrunnen valley, with stunning views of the beautiful Breithorn and the Schmadribach Falls, and lovely spring flowers all around (at the end of June). Enjoy the timelessness of this place, lit by candlelight, with old-fashioned jugs and bowls in the bedrooms to wash by (cold water only!). The... More

This was a perfect stop during our time in the Bernese Oberland. We spent three nights in Murren and then hiked up to Obersteinberg from Murren. An amazing, at times tough hike, and incredible views along the way and at the top. It was pretty quiet as the hotel has just opened for the season... But unforgettable. Spotless rooms, plenty... I went to this hotel on a hike of the Bernese Oberland Traverse and this was the highlight of my trip. The hotel is a tough day hike from the valley but there are stunning waterfalls and stunning mountain scenery on the way. There is an outside terrace where you can grab a beer or wine and watch the waterfall... More

Its a strenuous 3 hr hike from Stechelberg to the Inn but well worth it. The views from the Terrace are amazing as you look up at the great walls of the Breithorn. As others have indicated, the accommodations are simple and rustic. The food is excellent and the beer is cold. It is truly a "special" place and deserving... More

An uphill hike of about 10 miles or so from anywhere or by helicopter. That's the only way here. Absolutely breathtaking views of the Alps and waterfalls. Family owned. The nicest people ever!! No electricity, Wi-Fi or air conditioning. Just perfect. Wonderful food and deserts. Very reasonably priced adult beverages. Booked through a trekking company so I don't know the... More

We loved staying here during our hiking trip through the Alps. We booked a private room, and it was absolutely charming. The view from the bedroom window was spectacular, and the romantic candlelight dinner was a treat. The place feels quite rustic -- there are no showers or hot running water. But we had wash basins in the room, adding... More

Even though it has no electricity, nor hot running water, I'd rank this among the very finest hotels I've stayed in, including the Park Hyatt Tokyo and the Amangiri. It's a fair walk to get there, but remotenessthe wonderful setting, simple but well kept rooms, and hearty food, make this an idyllic place.

This was a wonderful experience in a fantastic setting. We hiked from Stechelberg, and arrived fairly quickly. It is a pretty steep hike. After a short rest and dropping our packs, we went for a beautiful dayhike to Oberhornsee and Schmadrii Hut. The scenery is just fantastic and the hiking is superb. The hut itself is spotlessly clean and the... More

The trek to this hut from the valley floor is not easy and we were looking forward to a relaxing evening...... One of our party described the place as romantic..... not quite sure of his judgement after our experience.... The location is fantastic, the views are outstanding and we were fortunate to have great weather. The proximity of the farm... More
