We stayed in mid September, choosing this hotel from reading reviews, its quiet location and outside pool. Reception staff were all excellent, very friendly and helpful with suggestions and answers to our holiday questions. The hotel building is a stunning art deco design with a spectacular huge central atrium containing many sofas and tables, a bar area that leads into the restaurant area. We sat outside for breakfast ( weather permitting !) and the breakfast quality and varied selection of hot and cold food was superb. The golf room was lovely with views of the near-by golf course with countryside views in the distance. The room was a good size with an excellent bathroom, 2 basins, separate toilet,( + large flat walk-in shower). Lots of storage for clothes, a safe and fridge. Many room options in this hotel- the front facing sea- view rooms are brilliant for example. A large outside pool sunbathing area is an advantage for this hotel. The luxurious sun beds are the most comfortable we’ve used. The hotel location as reviews mention is at the top end of a very long hill from the centre. It takes about 10-15 minutes. 2 walking options; one is to walk along the main road path all the way or secondly to walk down the path for about 5 minutes then take one of the steep wide steps on the right of the main path down to the beach/ promenade and continue walking on a wide flat beach promenade all the way to the centre. ( one note - there is an area near the Hotel du Palais when the promenade goes under the hotel and where the waves come up to this path and the sea does make this part wet when the tide is high and sea is rough). The walk back uphill is a slow hard walk along the main road path or again use the flat promenade then take the steep steps up to the main road path again where you walk for the last 5 minutes to the hotel. The locals mostly cycle using electric bikes - you know why after walking around! There is an excellent free bus (N11) that stops outside the hotel and goes directly into the centre ( the return bus stop is outside too). It’s perfect except that it doesn’t run very late in evening. Getting the local taxis in Biarritz is near impossible - not many and they don’t always turn-up. Also they’ve resisted other competition from Uber etc ( even less of these & again not reliable) so that is a major negative for us in this town. We used the excellent buses and train services ( e.g. direct bus to Bayonne & train to Saint Jean de Luz) . The uphill location could be difficult for some people but the quiet location and the hotel facilities and proximity to the lovely walk to the lighthouse area close by are advantages to smaller central hotels. A luxury hotel with excellent staff. Highly recommended.

Gorgeous, sumptuous hotel! We spent 10 fab nights here and even in bad weather we could sit in the most fabulous hotel bar and read and relax. Beds are good and the design of the place is just a feast for the eyes! It is a little way out of the main town - about 1km but there is a free bus every half hour N11 although it ends at 7.30pm. We never found any problem getting a taxi back up later in the evening. Loved the pool area and the attendants brought lovely lunches and cocktails on request. We are twice in the restaurant which was exceptional and the one breakfast we had was extensive and lovely too! All of the staff were focused on giving great customer service! Just lovely really and would definitely return.

Beautiful hotel sympathetically renovated in deference to its art deco roots. Up a STEEP hill - end of negatives. No expense seems to have been spared in trying to achieve a luxury guest experience from the decor, in keeping with the art deco theme and the dramatic seascape surrounding the building. Golf course view rooms are good but the sea view is spectacular. Beds are fabulous, tableware tasteful, Alessi kettles, Sjostrand coffee machines, L:A BRUKET toiletries - Classy! Breakfast good and varied. Like all great hotels the staff are amazing, majority are young and excellent at their jobs particularly the cleaning staff and guest experience/reception - so kind ☺️. Merci a toutes et a tous.

Dear Geraldine, Thanks for this review. We are delighted to hear that you appreciated the renovation and our dedication to the Art Deco theme, as well as the stunning views and luxurious amenities. Our team takes great pride in providing a memorable stay for our guests, and we are glad that our staff, particularly the cleaning and guest experience teams, made a positive impression on you. We understand that the hill leading to our hotel can be steep, but we believe that the breathtaking views and proximity to the city center make up for it. We hope that this did not cause too much inconvenience during your stay. Thank you once again for your kind words and valuable feedback. We look forward to welcoming you back to our hotel in the future. Kind regards, Stephanie Digeon, General Manager

Our biggest mistake at this hotel was not staying longer. We were only in Biarritz one night, but the hotel staff was extremely accommodating and nice. The rooms were great with really unique decor that highlighted the area. The pool area was lovely, the lobby large and bright, and the location perfect. The beach was easily accessible and the center of town was within walking distance. We unfortunately had to leave early in the morning, but would have loved to spend more time in this hotel.

Great service, comfortable room with spectacular view. It’s a 10min walk to the beach and 15 to town. Going it’s downhill (not a significant slope) so if you’re not into walking consider taking the bus to and from (there is a stop in front/near of the hotel). Dinner at The Frenchie (hotel rest) was phenomenal. Food was beautifully presented and the staff would explain every little detail. I would ask them to work on the wine pairings as they were a bit rough. Sommelier and wait staff super duper. Don’t be offended if they ask you if you prefer to speak English. It’s part of the service protocol! Easily would have given a 5 ⭐️ if it weren’t for the bathroom. There’s nowhere to put your hand towel and/or your toiletries. I would suggest the hotel invest in a couple of shelves and extra hooks as there is plenty of room to work with. Wonderful stay. Thank you #amextravel

We have just checked out of the Regina Experimental after a 3 night stay. We have been fortunate to stay in many 5* hotels around the world and I don’t feel this hotel is currently a 5*. We stayed in a room on the ground floor with a terrace. The room opens directly onto the lobby bar/lounge area and the outdoor terrace is on a fairly busy road with a beach path across the road with plenty of onlookers. The rooms are spacious and nicely decorated but the bathroom taps are difficult to use (I feel they have been chosen on aesthetics over practicality) and the shower doesn’t have a shelf or tray to store your toiletries, nor are there any charge points for shavers and toothbrushes in the bathroom. Turndown service was done every day between 5pm and 6pm which felt very early given we had not yet showered for dinner. One evening we went for dinner between 8-10pm but the staff didn’t return to carry out turndown. We ordered a disappointing Caesar salad on room service for lunch one day, and one evening we ate in the hotel restaurant ‘Frenchie’ and we were served fish that wasn’t cooked (we raised it with the staff who agreed and replaced the meal and said it wouldn’t be charged) so we cut our meal short and avoided any other food. I must say however, the breakfast was good (particularly the pastries and cakes), but they don’t serve any berries other than a few within a large fruit salad. We also had to specifically ask for coffees on arrival every morning, and no one ever pointed out that there was a menu we could order from. The weather during our stay meant we weren’t able to use the pool area however we visited it briefly and again noted the road right next to it…a strange setting for an upmarket hotel. Note that parking onsite is limited at an additional cost of €20 per day. The checkout process was complicated and long due to a bill discrepancy. This was ultimately resolved but further left us feeling this is not a 5* hotel. We understand this hotel has only recently opened after renovation and it feels as though it is not yet running smoothly. Plenty of potential but not yet a 5* hotel and have stayed in much better hotels for a similar cost!

We loved our stay at the Hotel Regina in Biarritz! The hotel layout made us feel like we were on a cruise ship. We loved the big open lobby with plenty of space for a quiet drink or a visit with other guests and the lovely staff. The lobby felt like the Loges in old Lyon, intimate and romantic and luxurious. The highlight for us was the beautiful piano in the middle of the lobby, which my wife enjoyed playing when we needed time to relax. The acoustics for the piano are amazing and we really enjoyed this privilege. The bar and restaurant were also delightful, with excellent food and warm and friendly service. Everyone on the hotel staff made us feel welcome and we hope to return very soon. A special birthday dinner was arranged at short notice, complete with a beautiful printed menu, and a delightfully decadent dessert

Highly under our aspectations, The hotel it’s located pretty far from the city center, about 15 minutes walking. On the website that you have the impression that it’s located in front of the sea but is not, It is located in front of a road and in front of the hotel parking. The pool it’s really small and it’s located between two car parkings. Also this aspect was absolutely not clear From the website Because the picture was taken in manner to let think the people that it was located just in front of the see but it’s not. Generally speaking the quality of the hotel it’s really poor And the breakfast it’s really embarrassing, absolutely not a five star level, maybe just for almost 4 hours a 3 stars hotel stand. Also the room, It is quite nice but not enough for for the price, it is ruined and not properly maintained. We are really unsatisfied about the experience, Mainly because we know the usual quality of Accor and this is really understand.

Cher Erdarioo, I am sorry to hear that your experience at Le Régina Biarritz Hotel & Spa did not live up to your expectations, and I thank you for taking the time to share your feelings with us. Our hotel is determined to offer you the best quality of service, therefore your opinion is very precious to us and contributes to the constant improvement of our services. I take note of your comments and your disappointment concerning our breakfast service and some of our installations, please be assured that we consider your comments. Our wish is not to give you a wrong idea, the first page of our website clearly indicates that the hotel sets back from the cliff, and is located along the road going from Anglet to Saint-Jean de Luz. Also, our hotel is listed as a historic “remarkable” building, therefore we cannot modify many of the outdoor aspects including the swimming pool area. We remain sorry that these points didn’t meet your expectation. Our reservation department is also at your disposal to help you and give you more detailed information you may need to plan your stay. We hope that despite your disappointment, you will leave us a second chance to better satisfy you during a future stay on the Basque Coast. Sincerely yours,

Beautiful hotel in Biarritz I felt very rushed, check in at 3 then called at 11:05 next day for checkout. Bed was comfortable albeit a top sheet. To be honest, this grossed me out especially with COVID. I considered this hotel a treat as my friend stayed in town for quite a bit less with a balcony and ocean view. Turndown service at night would have been have a plus for $450 a night. Hotel is a 20 minute walk to city center where the restaurants and nightlife are. It was okay for me but if you don’t have a car could be issue. No taxis at 3 am so if you stay out note that this could be an issue.
