this hotel is cheating customers. if you opt for a comfort double room, they show you pictures with two VERY SPACY rooms (you will unlikely get, they have only those two). then you push the reservation button and in the e-mail confirmation you will see a much smaller room (you will get; they have around 30 of those). make a SCREENSHOT before you order and stand your ground if you feel cheeted, the difference is around 15-20m2. it’s an ongoing scheme to pull you over the table! the hotel is rated 4* but it’s maybe worth 2*. the interior is really outdated. the pricing is too expensive for what you get. they offer on some booking platforms parking at a decent price (20€). but they don’t have. legally, you can’t hardly stop in front of the hotel. it’s up to you to find a P. those are very rare and very expensive. street parking costs 35€ for 4,25hrs (between 09h-19h). no joke !!! underground parking is 35€, if it’s not full. and look at the latest (fake / payed for ?) comments from US and canadian travellers. from beginning 2020 up to nov. 8th 2021 there were NO TRANSATLANTIC travellers (covid !!!). who produced those comments, all rated with a fantasy 10.0 ??? bottom line: AVOID! … to me: never ever !!!…
A good choice for a trip when you don’t have your own transport, as the hotel is right opposite the tourist information office and close to many attractions. It is also an easy tram trip from the main rail station to the Quinconces stop just across the road from the hotel. Our room was very pleasant, street-facing with large opening windows for fresh air. Very little traffic noise with the windows closed, even though on quite a busy street. The bathroom was modern with twin basins, a good powerful shower (but no bath) and a separate WC. There are rooms with baths. Breakfast was 19.50 euros - comparatively expensive, but a very good choice of mostly cold items. Smoked salmon, hams, dried sausage, cheeses, crunchy French rolls, cereals, cakes and pastries, plus plenty of fresh fruit and yoghurts. Nespresso coffee machine. Breakfast being available until 11 am and noon checkout were also good points. Reception staff we met were polite, pleasant and efficient. Would certainly stay again.…
The hotel is VERY difficult to find but it is a good location for Bordeaux sites, and shopping. It is right across the street from the tourist office which is where you go to book vineyard tours. The room had a fridge but it was cramped and small. The elevator is TINY. The staff wasn't super friendly. The hall lights are motion activated and took a second to come on so it was creepy to open your door to darkness. They had a nice breakfast. Parking lots are very tight to drive in. The hotel does validate parking but you have to find and use their approved garage which is a block and a half away.
Spent 2 nights. Pros: well-located by park and transportation. Bathrooms quite nice with deep tubs, power showers, and Fragonard accoutrements. Beds comfortable, with upscale linens. Cons: Reception was negligent and more suited to a 1-star hotel. Asked them to arrange taxi, and after it was 15 minutes past due, and we needed to catch a train, had to take it upon ourselves to sprint to square to find a taxi. The man at reception was more interested in protecting prestige of taxi than of guest needs. Some corner rooms were just plain depressing, with view of wall 5 feet away.
Central location makes this hotel attractive as downtown Bordeaux is quite walkable. The staff is friendly and the tourism office is across the street. We enjoyed the substantial breakfast and highly recommend this hotel. The only downside was the internet was a bit slow.
I only stayed one night in this hotel. Although the room was on the small side, it was very clean and modern. Breakfast was good, the staff very helpful. It's central location is also appealing, I can recommend this hotel.
The hotel is well located close to the centre. It is nice and its staff is very kind. However in my opinion it needs renovation. The room was quite small and there was no outlet to plug the phone. Also the TV was very old. Breakfast was good. Price was acceptable for the offered quality.
stayed at the HOTEL DE NORMANDIE in October 2018 the location is superb around the corner to the opera and the central square the room and the view from the room and the terrace were perfect I have never had such a wonderful breakfast in any hotel the staff were most helpful
We were very pleasantly surprised by Hotel de Normandie. Relative to other hotels in Bordeaux it was very reasonably priced, yet the location was fantastic. We stayed in a Superior room, and it was very comfortable. It seemed to have been recently renovated. The bed was huge and very comfortable. We had opening windows on to the street which is always a big plus for me. Once the windows were closed it was quiet. Breakfast was included in our rate and was great - typical continental breakfast and of a good standard. And the staff were pleasant. I'm not sure what else we would have needed. We will definitely stay there again if we travel to Bordeaux (which I hope we do!)
The rooms were very nice, location was unbelievably central to Bordeaux and staff did great job. One evening we opened our own bottle of wine and they brought use wine glasses. Central river/greenway area is 3 blocks away with popular restaurants and watering holes only little farther. Right across tracks from hotel is nice Togo breakfast and coffee place.
