Hotel Maison Rouge is very centrally located - very close to the Cathedral and the historic Strasbourg, 15 mins walk from the train station and just 5 minutes walk from the tram stops. The hotel is very nice with a nice lobby where you can sit down and relax in a comfy sofa and get yourself some nice cool juices (free) - the lobby area looks very nice. Our room was good - the bathroom especially was really fabulous - really spacious, stonework, spacious shower and Clarins products. However, there were a few bits that we found annoying: 1. The air-conditioning in did not work well at all especially at the beginning - instead of cooling it was heating and there were no instructions how to change the setting - it was impossible to sleep the first couple of nights - the temperature in the room was rising! And the AC keeps getting shut off after running for 20 mins despite the room being quite hot! Strasbourg was very hot when we visited so this was really uncomfortable. 2. It was very noisy with building work going on - loud drilling noise going on every day for a long time - very annoying. The breakfast room and service were excellent although the breakfast itself was average. Overall, this is quite a nice hotel in a great location.

We really enjoyed staying 3 nights at this hotel. It's 10 minutes walk from Strasbourg train station; is situated in the main shopping area; is 5 minutes walk from the impressive Notre Dame cathedrale and main tourist area; and 10 minutes walk from the picturesque Petite France area. Excellent English spoken by the very friendly staff at reception and those serving breakfast. Our room was a standard room and it was a reasonable size with everything you'd need and quadruple glazing (window) so very quiet. My only complaint is the cost of breakfast at a hefty €18 each. However it is a very good breakfast at that. Highly recommend.

We stayed here June, 2019 and the place was going through remodel. And, boy, do they need it?!?! Currently the first 2 standard room floors are still basking in their 80/90s glory with red red RED furniture, yellow tiles in the bathroom with a bidet (which I actually didn’t mind) and older hardware of all kinds. These rooms also can be just a bit loud because the hotel is a lively street with a fairly quiet tram and pedestrian traffic. (There are no car traffic on the street.) The top 3-4 floors have been wonderfully remodeled and they were excellent rooms. We got to enjoy both because erroneously were put in the lower standard room our first night. The bathroom products in the remodeled and most likely little more expensive room were excellent. In this room the restroom is separate and there was a nespresso machine. The whole light system was high tech and you have USB plugs as well. We loved the remodeled room. Breakfast is pretty standard for this class of hotel and we enjoyed it as well. Our stay on the 6th floor was excellent!

The hotel is great. It has is currently undergoing refurbishment with most of the work done. The rooms are very clean and well specified in terms of facilities. Nice to see shower over a bath dispatched to last century. The hotel does not have a restaurant but the breakfast is very comprehensive. You can't beat the location and parking via the public car park is 100 metres from the hotel entrance. It is well worth a couple nights here as there is much to see in this busy but historic city

My friend and I stayed in this hotel from 07.06 - 10.06. The location of the hotel is central in the old city and therefore easy to get to attractions, bars and restaurants. Next to the hotel is a parking house (Indigo Kléber) with 50% discount for hotel residents making parking stress free. The hotel staff was nice and responded promptly. We booked a room rate with breakfast. The food was not value for money. The consistency of the scrambled eggs made us believe that they were made with some kind of egg powder. Apart from tomatoes there were no vegetables offered. We wouldn’t get a room with breakfast next time.... but there will not be a next time anyway... The room was a decent size with a very small bathroom. Before booking the hotel we checked the reviews and read that one customer complained about not being able to close the bathroom door. We thought it would have been repaired and it didn’t stop us from booking the hotel. Unfortunately this issue was still there and because the hotel was fully booked they couldn’t give us a different room. The room is equipped with many buttons to control the air con, the light and the shutters. It wasn’t possible to work out the logic of these and we believe it wasn’t working. Somehow we managed to get the shutters closed but we and not even the staff could re-open them for the duration of the stay. We used our gym mat to hold the shutters open to get some fresh air into the room (no bathroom window either). On the last day we went to breakfast a little later than before and saw a mouse around the breakfast tables. The breakfast room is on the first floor. When we made the staff aware of it, they didn’t seem to be surprised and didn’t commented about it. We left and will never return to stay in this hotel.

Dear Julia, Thank you for taking time to write your comment. As you've seen we make some renovation works and it's the main reason of the mouse in the hotel. It's an isolated case and we do our best to hunt the intruder. We've called the expert company in rat control for a quick intervention. We respect all the rules of hygiene and we carry out regular checks to ascertain the possible presence of rodents and we fight if necessary to make them disappear. However it is true that the task is complicated because of the works and the mouse move much more. I've informed our technical service regarding the bathroom and the window. I'm really sorry for what happened and if your stay wasn't up to your expectations. Best regards
