"The room is most definitely a showstopper, there's certainly no doubting the attention to detail that has gone into bringing this new Art Deco-themed venue to life in the former bank building at the top of King Street. It offers something you can't currently find on the Manchester scene with such extravagant and quirkily-themed interiors." Manchester Evening News

Hotel Gotham stands out for its vibrant Art Deco theme and quirky atmosphere, complete with live entertainment, which has captivated many guests. The central location in Manchester is widely celebrated, although it comes with its share of noise, occasionally disrupting the peace. Opinions on the service vary, with commendations for attentiveness contrasting with frustrations over responsiveness. Rooms score points for style but face critiques concerning cleanliness and size. While the unique amenities like the rooftop bar add charm, the value proposition is questioned by guests expecting more for their money.

We absolutely loved this hotel and will definitely be returning. The hotel itself is stunning, we had ‘The Gotham Experience’ - beautiful chocolates and bottle of Prosecco waiting for us in our room. The staff go above and beyond, they are fantastic and a real credit to the hotel. We had drinks in Club Brass and they were reasonably priced and very good as also was the pizza 😋. Breakfast fantastic, fresh and plenty of choice. Booked the car in for valet parking and I would recommend. Really nice touch returning to the car with a lovely safe journey home message, air freshener and two cans of water. Brilliant location. All in all would 100% recommend this hotel - LOVED it!

From the moment my partner and I stepped out of our taxi we were swept up in the amazing experience Hotel Gotham has to offer. The concierge greeted us outside of the hotel, taking our bags to be taken up to the suite we had booked while we checked in on the 6th floor. Check in took no time at all and allowed us to have a look at some of the lovely details added to the hotel including a grand piano and what felt like a very 1920's theme throughout building. When getting to our suite, again the concierge met us to drop off our bags. As you can see from the photos the chocolate platter and champagne on arrival were both great touches to an already gorgeous room. I really liked the colour scheme as it just felt very glamorous! The bathroom had a dual sink with walk-in shower and lots of little extras including a very comfy bath robe. A very well stocked minibar was available along with coffee/tea and the use of a coffee machine which tasted great. The bed was so comfortable and big - you will, no doubt, have the best nights sleep you have had for a while! To add to an already brilliant room the views were fabulous and you could enjoy what Manchester has to offer without all of the noise seeping in. All in all it is definitely one of the best night stays I have had in a hotel for a very long time and I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a treat away!

We thought the hotel might be over themed but were pleasantly surprised . Our room was a directors room which had a separate sitting area , and was very comfortable with a great monsoon shower . The club bar was a great place to have a drink and as it was decorated for Christmas looked lovely . Breakfast was a bit chaotic and not a great selection if you did not want a cooked breakfast . A great location near the shopping area , theatres and restaurant.

Initially it looked and sounded great however here we go our experience which was nothing short of disappointing.
At concierge no temp taken
Reception advised we would have the bugle in our room for information. Nothing in room, no information on checkout times.
Bar upstairs we would have liked to have sat outside, but all the cushions were soaking, why wouldn't staff bring them in at either the end of the day or if it was raining?? Or perhaps buy furniture that can be wiped dry? And you suggest on the website that you are aiming for members to pay at this place?? (So I ended up with a wet arse!! Cheers for that)
A plate welcomed us wishing us happy anniversary with 2 nasty chocolates in it.
Pillow had dried blood on it. I wasn't inspecting it, the pillow cover came away and thats where we could see it. I didn't complain I just put it to one side.
Dinner was booked for 9 and the service was shocking. It took over 40 mins to receive the prosecco we ordered whilst other tables were served immediately with one table receiving complimentary champagne???
When it did arrive waitress wanted to serve it in a wine glass not a flute, which i then asked for it to be changed. With the bottle then placed completely out of reach for us to pour should we have wanted more?
The menu came out but we had to ask for the other menu as we had a meal included in our stay.
We did however get a glass of fizz as I'm sure they noted that we were displeased with everything.
We were charged for service which we asked them to remove as the service was shocking, this was done.

Tv in room had no checkout, and only had basic TV ( please note its not that we wanted to watch anything ) but if you are suggesting you are a high end hotel please consider having the best available to your clients.
Breakfast in the room arrived on time, thank you.
Food was luke warm, again attention to detail, no salt or pepper, no jams
On checkout we were asked how the stay was to which I ran through the above.
And received nothing back in terms of reduction or getting a manager to discuss the issues we had. Customer service lacking to be honest it was like he couldn't be bothered to deal with us. So I said I would email in, but cant be bothered now as they didn't want to deal with it there and then and they had opportunity to address these failings. Plus email was only a generic one not to manager to deal with accordingly.
For the price we paid, I really think Gotham needs to sit down and think about attention to detail.
Room wasn't all that either the bedroom area was slightly better/bigger than a Premier Inn!! Sink in bathroom was ridiculously low, toilet was higher than the sink.
Shower was good
Overpriced and feel let down and disappointed.

If you want to keep this hotel going during such difficult times then you have to do much better.
Won't return and won't recommend!

Hotel Gotham really is something special. The staff are all attentive, friendly and exceptional at what they do. From being greeted by the dapper and jovial gentleman at the door, to checking in and out with the lovely Rosemary, we couldn’t of felt more welcome (I’m wearing my Gotham mask with pride) The room was spacious with lots of attention to detail, the decor of the whole place is distinct and eye catching.Room service cocktails from Club Brass were strong and tasty, and breakfast from the honey restaurant was delicious- what a beautiful dining area! Covid precautions were taken extremely seriously too; temperature checked on arrival, masks, distancing and sanitation stations throughout. Hotel Gotham- I think I love ya! Will definitely be back in the future and I can’t recommend enough.

Just got back from a weekend at Gotham. This weekend was the re-opening from lockdown. I was a bit nervous about staying in Manchester as this was our first time properly out since lockdown. As soon as we got to the Hotel, all staff were wearing masks, we got our temperature checked and there was sanitising stations all over the hotel. We got to our room and it was absolutely spotless, as was the rest of the hotel.
We had reservations at Honey and Club Brass. The steak was the best we’ve ever had and the cocktails were beautiful.
We were welcomed in our room by a chilled bottle of Prosecco and chocolate covered strawberries.
The room was spacious and light and the amenities were great. Everything you could need was in the room.
I do have to say that the staff really made the hotel. Everyone was so lovely and attentive. Nothing was too much trouble. You are all doing a fantastic job.
Special shout out to Ryan who came over for a chat when we were having drinks. You made us really feel at home. Thank you for all of your hard work.
We cannot wait to return!

We have wanted to stay at the Gotham since it opened and back in October 2020 we booked a package which included a nights stay in a club room , valet parking , five course tasting menu , breakfast , late check out at 12.30 and afternoon tea for £149 per person . This was cancelled due to covid so as it is my fiancé’s birthday and the date of our postponed wedding we booked in to use this now . When we arrived the staff offered to bring our bags in and took our car from the front of the hotel to park it for us . This all went smoothly and so did check in . Our room was lovely but smaller than expected. I had sent numerous emails in confirming the finer details and made mention of my fiancé’s birthday / our postponed wedding , which I note from previous reviews had received some acknowledgement such as chocolate in their room or some drinks but we didn’t receive anything . That’s fine but it would have been a nice touch . Anyway the confusion arose because none of the staff seemed to know what package we had booked . Firstly we went for our included dinner and were offered something totally different to the value or £25 so I had to paoint out that this wasn’t right . I enjoyed the tasting menu and staff were helpful in sorting out swaps for us however the second course was brought out wrong so my fiancé had to wait for his to be redone . When we entered the restaurant we were asked if we wanted still or sparkling water . We wrongly assumed this was included however I think the way it was offered was misleading . When you are asked still or sparkling you answer with one of those whereas I think they should say first do you want bottled water so it can be declined . They kindly did not charge us due to the misunderstanding thankfully as the charge for these two waters was just shy of £10! We felt a bit embarrassed about this and after this constantly worried what was included or not and whether we were going to be charged for more things. The breakfast was very tasty but we waited a full hour for it , and when we asked for red and brown sauce these never came . We then went back to our room to relax until our late check out at 12.30 however at 12.15 a staff member knocked on the door asking when we were checking out . Not one staff member seemed to know what package we had booked and the inclusions . Staff were really friendly and helpful but it would be nice after I sent so many emails to organise all the inclusions if they had known what we were supposed to be receiving . Afternoon tea was nice and again they let us make some swaps . We asked the concierge to have our car ready for 3pm but we had to wait until nearly half past for it . They did offer us bottles of water whilst we waited . Overall food was very nice , staff very helpful and quick to rectify situations however service kind of slow .

This has been my favourite 5 star hotel experience of many visits to wonderful hotels. This was due to the wonderful 1920s/great gatsby aesthetic. You can pay the same money for a much more average experience with stylish but unremarkable rooms. This hotel oozes gothic elegance, decadence and uniqueness.
The place even smells divine, and is filled with gorgeous scented reed diffusers. It feels like stepping into another world. The staff on the door were friendly, jokey and not stuffy, with very beautifully tailored suits. They assisted with our luggage and assured us they were there to assist with anything we should need.
The gentleman on reception when I checked in was especially attentive and professional. The bar staff were very courteous and conducted themselves appropriately for a hotel of this standard. I have stayed in 5 star hotels where the staff have been disinterested and neglectful.
We had lovely tea in the bar which was a gorgeous setting with fantastic city views. We were given cicumber water and little pig chocolates as an accompaniment; lovely touches at every turn.
The suite I booked was an inner sanctum suite with a wonderful pink and black aesthetic. Upon entering the room swing music began playing! It all felt exciting.m The room had a feature wall with visuals, city scapes and music. The furnishings were gorgeous and unique, including a fabulous pink chez long, a gramma phone and a directors style chair.
The bed was huge with a luxurious fluffy throw.
I loved the special touches, the illustration books on the dresser and the crystal style glasses in the cabinet. The cabinet was stocked with complimentary teas and coffee (and a coffee maker) and some delicious pink pig biscuits. There was, of course, a mini bar stocked with various alcohol and even a bar of Gotham chocolate, popcorn and crisps.
The bathroom was gorgeous with a huge shower (bath would have been nice!).
And of course a copy of the Gotham newspaper. It was a truly magical experience.
We will be returning. We did not have a chance to try the restaurant but would love to next time.
Thank you to the staff for making us feel so welcome.

After having heard wonderful things about the Gotham Hotel from anyone who I spoke to about the property, I decided to book the Inner Sanctum suite for my partner's 30th birthday.

I called in July to book for August. I spoke to a concierge who took my details and promised the reception team would get in touch immediately. A week later I still hadn't heard anything, and emailed the hotel with the details for the stay and budding frustration. The reservations manager got in touch promptly.

Fast forward to the stay. Absolutely gorgeous room, it's clear plenty of money has been spent on the building. However we had booked directly for a complimentary prosecco which wasn't in the room upon arrival. After 4 failed calls from the room to reception, I got through to someone who promised they'd follow up. An hour later nothing had arrived yet. Seeing as we were celebrating my partner's 30th I went to the bar to get two glasses (which were served in wine glasses... Little details youd expect a top hotel to have sorted as standard). 2h30 later the prosecco finally arrived.

Having gone up and down to the bar a few times during the stay. I had brought the drinks down to my room myself. 2/3 times I paid the discretionary 10% service charge, having worked the bar for many years myself. I understand why this is done, however for a purely transactional exchange, without much service, at the bar for drinks. I thought it was pretty cheeky to include the charge me and refused to pay it the third time. Additionally, strange that a bar that charges literal thousands for membership annually is missing pretty standard inventory (draft beer, frangelico, malibu, etc.)

I put my shoes out for the shining service in the evening. And we had an admitt

I won a Champagne Afternoon tea for two courtesy of Virgin Experiences and decided to use the voucher on rerun from a holiday.

I phoned up and booked the day and time and I was asked if I was celebrating anything special at that time , our 34th wedding Anniversary was a week later so I mentioned that and I was told that we would be booked at a table by the window.

When we arrived we were greeted by three gentleman who had a bit of a banter with us as they were trying to pronounce my surname which is Le Prevost but whoever had taken my call and put Le Prevoft so we were having a little discussion on how to pronounce our name correctly.

We were shown to the lift and went up to the 6th floor where they took our coats and scarves and we were then greeted by Antonio who took us to our table, it wasn’t quite by the window but close by so we didn’t have a problem with that.

We were given a box of speciality teas and the menu of our afternoon tea and chose our choice of coffee and we were then given our glass of champagne.

The afternoon tea was bought out to us and Antonio explained what was on the sandwiches and what the cakes were etc

We had four finger sandwiches each , a Bakewell tart , a chocolate brownie , a strawberry cheesecake and an orange macaroon and we had two scones with Jam and Cream each.

All in all it was a very enjoyable experience , we were about to leave when Antonio asked us to sit down and he came in with a plate that said happy anniversary and a couple of chocolate truffles with a sparkler on it which was a really nice little gesture.

It felt very Art Deco in the room where they served the afternoon tea and it was lovely to see the waiters dressed in the period clothing to suit the surroundings.

If you want to do something special whilst in Manchester then this is a really nice thing to do .

Thank you Antonio for the professional manor in which you served us
