Liked · Decor was great and location to town superb Friendly staff Very clean Felt very Covid Secure Disliked · Lack of alternative dietary options The cupboard in my room was a great looking piece of theatre but highly impractical (heavy doors wouldn’t stay open, and couldn’t move around the bed very well)
My friend and I came for dinner just before lockdown 2.0 and we had the best time! We had the tasting menu which was absolutely gorgeous! I couldn’t recommend it enough! The service was impeccable (thank you to Emma who served us) and I want to thank the Operations Manager Ryan for looking after us too! I cannot wait to come back once some sort of normality resumes!
Afternoon tea at Hotel Gotham was amazing.....I am coeliac, so emailed Ryan (House Manager) before hand, to make sure I could be catered for.....of course, it wasn't a problem, & the afternoon tea was lovely, both the 'normal' one as well as the gluten free one. Would definitely recommend without a doubt, well worth a visit.
Overall, quite disappointed. We booked an Inner Sanctum Suite. Making the reservation was quite simple but some important points weren't given to us. Such as on check-in a 100GBP fee would be taken for damages. The problem was it had to be from the same card the booking was made with, baring in mind id just emptied that account as I was living abroad. On check-in, the full booking had to be refunded and taken again on a different card. No explanation was really given about the hotel and amenities. We were also promised by reservations a late checkout and on check-in was told they would not honour it. I had to argue with the receptionist and explain it was not a request and show him the confirmation email from reservations dept. Once we got to the room we found it quite difficult using the Wonderwall, the projector & the TV. The controls are behind a small panel which you can remove from the wall. The TV kept turning its self on and the HDMI cable in the wall didn't connect to the Projector or TV for our apple TV. We then decided to try and watch We looked in the newspaper in the room and it stated that BT Sport channel was available and this was also advertised on the website. It wasn't working on the TV so we called reception and waited 20mins for someone to come and check it. About a further 20mins later the gentleman called us and advised it could not be fixed. We were offered a round of drinks which we declined as we had already ordered what we needed. There were no slippers in the room and the floor looked like it needed a hoover. The following day we had afternoon tea which was nice. The atmosphere is the restaurant was a bit flat. We were also told we couldn't pay cash but eventually they let us as it wasn't stated anywhere that we couldn't and if he had of know we would have brought our other bank cards from the UK. After we checked out we asked the bellhops to arrange our car for 130pm and explained we would be down between 130-145pm. When we came down the car wasn't ready and the bellhop was alone. By the time someone from reception came down to cover him & he had walked to get the car and drive it over we waited a further 30mins. Small details like this would put me off going back. The suites don't have windows which we knew but we felt quite claustrophobic in general as the building is quite compact and we had to go outside for some fresh air.…
Beautiful interiors, worth every penny. Stayed in one of the inner sanctum suites, which was absolutely stunning, big TV, great specious sitting area, so you just chill and enjoy a drink. Bar on the top floor, with good quality cocktails and top tier service.
