Spent a training weekend at this hotel. The staff I interacted with were lovely, pleasant & helpful. My room was a little tired: there was a black deposit on the showerhead and a mystery white smear on the carpet, and the food package wasn’t great - the evening catering was of the lazy type that CBA to produce a meat-eaters meal, a vegetarian meal, and a vegan meal, so does a single vegan option for both vegans and vegetarians. The lunch was teeny portions in little bowls and insufficient variety day-to day. The labelling wasn’t always helpful, eg one day there was a plate of sandwiches labelled ‘sandwiches’ . We could have worked that out for ourselves but those of us with dietary restrictions needed to know what was In the sandwiches. The training rooms were good, but we had to go and ask for water, pens and paper to be supplied to the room. The self service drinks and snacks section for the training rooms was well supplied at the beginning of each day but had been cleared before our last break of the day, which was annoying. The catering and supply fails would have taken the score lower but the staff I dealt with were so nice I can’t go lower than 4/5

First time back in Manchester since COVID hit us. Met at reception by Sam who couldn’t have made us feel more welcome. Queen superior room with city view facing onto Piccadilly station approach was perfect for our people watching, whilst having a coffee from our Nespresso machine. The fridge was a welcome addition, and actually cold unlike many. Adequate room for clothes etc, and room was clean and well maintained. Bathroom again spacious with excellent shower whose extraction actually worked as we weren’t subjected to the usual misted mirrors which I find so annoying. The bed itself whilst comfortable enough thanks to the topper, but I suspect the sprung mattress has done it’s time. The evening meal at Store Street Exchange provided with our deal; whilst simple was well presented, and my Caesar salad was well populated with moist chicken and tasty anchovies. Sarah who served us was friendly, welcoming and excellent at her job, thank you. Breakfast was extremely well organised, and the buffet service was varied and very satisfying. A first for me was croissants, and choc au pain were provided in a heated oven so there was no need to set the toaster on fire. Whilst there we had one problem which Sharon at reception sorted out with such finesse that I felt I hadn’t raised a problem. The whole experience was above the norm. Only minutes walk to Piccadilly, Chinatown, Canal Street, and try walking along the canal paths accessed from the road opposite via the Ducie basin.

First time staying in this hotel. Free hot complimentary cookie when checking in. Spoke to several staff throughout our stay who couldn’t do enough to help. All very friendly. Room was very spacious and had everything we needed if slightly basic/dated. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again, clean nice hotel.

I really like this hotel and have stayed many times. I really like the location and the size of the rooms. I checked in online after being given an upgrade and took the corner room on the 8th floor. The app sent me my electronic key. It’s a bit annoying that if you are a Diamond member you need to call at reception for your free drink vouchers, they do t leave these in the room. I was in my room in minutes. I stayed twice recently, once over Christmas (24-27 Dec) and another time 2-4 Jan. The first time the staff were all wearing masks and wore them correctly. Unfortunately this was not the case on the second visit. In particular at breakfast on the 4th Jan one of the servers wore his mask around his chin all the time I was there. I expected the superviser to tell him to wear it correctly. No. He did nothing to correct the issue. Everyone else seems able to wear them correctly. It not this one person. I was shocked and have reduced my otherwise 5 star review by 2 stars. Overall, a great hotel and excellent location and service.
