We stayed at Holiday Inn Saturday 8th June on arrival check-in went well, we checked into our room, the carpet was very dirty, walls were covered in splash marks and a broken bed there was also lots of noise in the corridor, we went to reception asked to be moved and we were told straight no. Further to this the Fire Alarm activated at 2am this then seem to be silenced and there was no indication to guests on what we were required to do. When we went to check-out I was looking to give some feedback as there way no way the hotel reflected the cost we paid for 1 night, however, key card was taken and reception moved to next guest. On a positive note the bar staff were very friendly. I tried to complain on the website but would not let me.

We stayed here to have a relaxing trip to Manchester, we were seeing a band and wanted to stay over after rather than travel home. Due to the number of things occurring in Manchester all hotels were expensive, and this was the most cost effective hotel for us for proximity to Etihad stadium. We paid four times the price advertised on the board outside the hotel 😳 and ultimately it is not worth it. We had an executive room, it wasn’t confirmed on check in but I think that is because I am an IHG member. The room was spacious but the facilities basic. The linens and duvet were nice. The pillows weren’t comfortable and the mattress was broken, the springs were shot. See the picture of the collapsed mattress. The on-site restaurant was fine, but expect basic pub grub. There are no real facilities in this part of Manchester so it was on site or nothing for us. My expectations are quite simple. Easy check in, room not too hot or cold and very quiet. Comfortable bed and good shower. That’s it. However when I am paying four times the list price my expectations rise significantly to be proportional to the price. The hotel didn’t deliver. The check in was slow, despite two staff being on. The wait for dinner was very long, around 30 minutes for two main courses. The broken mattress made the bed so uncomfortable, The Mrs and myself are both very tired after such a poor nights sleep. The lock on the door was awkward and required a very firm push. The breakfast items had all been out for ages and looked dry and awful. Only filter coffee and hot water for tea. All self serve, no latte or cappuccino without paying £2.50 more. A very limited establishment. Why the mattress wasn’t replaced I have no clue, why upgrade an IHG member and give them a rubbish experience? Why upgrade any customer and then dash it? I’m so tired I can’t remember if I paid for the exec room or not! I would only go for one in future if I was travelling with the family, as there was enough space for four. To top it all, on check out the guy behind the desk just took our keys and said bye, didn’t bother asking. Maybe he already knew from our tired faces and firm expression!

We stayed overnight at the hotel. A lot going on in Manchester that weekend so we paid a fortune for the two rooms. We had an executive room, it was tired and in need of a makeover the carpet was fraying around the bathroom door. The hotel is in a 25 minute walk to the etihad stadium and a 5 minute walk to a tram stop which is easy to use good value for money and a efficient way to get into central Manchester. Back to the hotel. We had a meal my husband had a burger I had pasta and a side salad.The food was delicious, cooked well and a good portion. I had a side salad which was varied in most eateries they tend to be few leaves, tomato and cucumber so well done for the variety. Check in gave us directions and a map to where we were going this was really useful. We were not told what time breakfast was, we checked on a information board outside the bar and dining area - stated clearly that breakfast on a Sat,Sun and B/H finished at 11.00 am. We came down to breakfast at 10.33 were told curtly that breakfast had finished at 10.30 the staff member told us there was some continental breakfast left we could have that - she offered no further assistance and went back to making her own toast, another staff member came past with a full plate of breakfast. My husband and I shared a plate for a slice of toast (this was because there was no clean plates available), bowl of cereal and a Luke warm cup of coffee. We thought we had misread the board so we checked on exiting and it clearly stated 11.00. We raised this when we checked out to be told the board is incorrect and breakfast finished at 10.30. I explained that as a paying guest they are there to provide a service and this is up to the hotel to appraise its guests of hotel routines. We were informed that the sign had been incorrect for a long time but management had been informed but had failed to change it. The receptionist called the duty manager she tried to resolve the issue stated that we would be reimbursed for the breakfast and did give us a fresh coffee, it was clear that she took pride in the service she offers guests. The hotel I think has got used to large volumes of people passing through on one or two nights and the customer service aspect has been lost in the ethos of the hotel, apart from individual staff members.

Hotel is run down. Checking in is slow and old fashioned. Our room alternated between smelling damp and of sewage after we flushed the toilet. Wi-Fi didn't reach to our room, so beware if that's a requirement. Had to mess with isolation switches to get the extractor fan on, and the TV was disconnected from the aerial. The hot water didn't work despite being turned all the way up to maximum. It would be kind to call it lukewarm. To cap it all off, the fire alarm sounded at 2am. From reading other reviews, it seems as though this is a regular occurrence. Checkout was also slow, primarily because of the number of people complaining about their stay or confused by the archaic methods of paying. Also, beware that signage in reception is wrong - breakfast is served until 10am, NOT 11am as the sign states ("we know - it's an old sign"). Don't bother unless it's your very last resort.

Hotel was ok.nothing fancy,good customer cervice,restaurant on site.breakfast over priced £10 per person.Not cool people. Other than that pleanty of parking,quaet, comfortable beads.AC could be adjusted to go lower than it is as its not cooling at all. If you need to stay for a night or two its a great place.nothing around walking distance.no bars restaurants,stors or shops.
