The Castlefield Hotel is a budget offering so the decor is not particularly inspiring and there are signs of wear and tear. However, the staff are very helpful and friendly. The location is excellent and the leisure facilities including a swimming pool, sauna and gym (free of charge to guests) are very good. I see some complaints about the car... More

Stayed here when in Manchester for a wedding. The room was clean, very basic, resembles student accommodation. We were disturbed by other noisy guests at about 2 o clock in the morning coming in from a night out and the walls are paper thin so you can hear a lot of what is going on. Service was good and reception... More

Okay so here's my honest review of our experience at the Castlefield Hotel. I'll start off with the positives and then the negatives. Positives: Most of the staff were very friendly, except the foreign one that checked us in who seemed like she hated her job. The head female staff member (most likely the manager) was very nice and made... More

First night here and so fat it's been good. The room is tidy enough but a big crack in the sink isn't nice. The showers good and the TV is a good size. The food we ordered was really nice and there is plenty on your plate. The staff are brilliant, really attentive and very helpful. And the added bonus of... More

Stayed here recently for one night midweek. Positives - excellent gym inc sauna and steam room, friendly reception staff, good location. Negatives - noisy, even for midweek, empty pint glasses and wine bottles in the corridor when I checked in and still there the following day Overall would recommend and return.

Our first time in Manchester, and chose the Castlefield as it has a pool. That's about the only good thing about it! Rooms are shabby, and not cleaned properly. I had to request the sheets were changed. Cleaners are loud, so no chance of a lie in. Food awful. No buffet breakfast available, though order taken at table. Order came... More

We stayed here because it is at the start of the Man Utd Cruise at Potato Wharf, not a central Manchester location, but a cheap taxi (£3 Uber from Oxford Rd). There are a few bars and restaurants near by (e.g. Dukes 92) but it is a fair walk up to the main shops. The decor is a little dated,... More

Overall a bit bare, spartan and functional. It appears to exist just to service the gym attached. The bedrooms are all very basic but I guess you get what you pay for. Did it get to use the restaurant as there are so many great places to eat locally. The staff we met on reception and in the bar were... More
