Stayed two nights from 20th August 2016. Front reception friendly. Jason I believe checked us in initially. He was friendly. Good attitude. Unfortunately went downhill once we got our room. Please see pictures. Hair on toilet. Duck tape on mirror wardrobe. Dust. Marks on walls. Very disappointed and certainly not worth the money. I believe it was 290 pounds for... More

The Midland is a vast turn of the century building with uniformed flunkeys to open the doors for you and grand public rooms. It is what you would expect of an important former railway hotel and there is nothing faded about its grandeur. What made it less satisfactory from my point of view is having to stay for 4 nights... My mother and I have sampled many an Afternoon Tea in Manchester and we have to say that the Midland Afternoon Tea is our favourite. The cakes are delicious and light. The scones are very tasty. The sandwiches are lovely and if you have special requests/allergies they will adapt the sandwiches for you. My mum is allergic to shellfish, so... More

When you first enter the hotel the first thing that hits you is the smell, and then again every time you go to the reception, it just smells so good! The atmosphere is added to by a piano player who is there most of time, a truly charming entrance. Our room was a really good size, with two double beds,... More

I suppose that I'm a bit biased, but I love the Midland. We used to stay there before it was taken over and although Q Hotels aren't quite up to the same standard, it's still pretty good. Our room overlooked the front of the hotel and was OK sizewise for a night and was well equipped plus nice bathroom. Breakfast... More

Stayed as part of a wedding party. Helpful staff, comfortable beds and a very good breakfast. Car valet service handy but a little overpriced. Only problem was rather noisy air-conditioning, which was needed for a hot evening in August.

We went to a wedding at the end of July and in fairness all the venue was good the prices of the bar were exaggerated and the bedroom was too small. The outside of the hotel is brilliant but once you get your room it's easy to get disappointed. The wifi doesn't work properly in all the hotel.

Was treated to afternoon tea at this lovely hotel. We were shown to a table in the Octagon Lounge which was very impressive with a huge Moroccan light shade suspended from the ceiling. We had the champagne afternoon tea which also included a small glass of Maderia. There was a wide selection of teas available which also came with an... More

Another good stay in this iconic hotel. We were welcomed by the smiling doormen and left our bags with the concierge . We were pleased to see our huge room, comfy bed and very clean, although it's great to hear that a room refurb programme is underway. Our breakfast was very enjoyable, the room is very serene, excellent choice of... More
