We go here with friends, family&as a couple regularly for DRINKS(appropriate word) & have ate here twice. The decor is dated but clean&fitting for the atmosphere it has of being a quiet pub but then what does that say? I feel they have a captive audience with the many travelling workers that stay here but there are better choices available if...

I thought the Red Lion was Georgian, but staff said, "It is old". Looked like an old inglenook fireplace, flagstone floor in one area, and deep window brickwork. I'd have loved to know more. There were twisty winding corridors. Our room overlooked the back of the hotel, and was adequate. However, the bathroom was sad. Nowhere to hang towels (towel...

Visited for a steak meal. Absolutely first class food and great service. The steak was perfectly cooked. This place has served consistently good food for years and is highly recommended for a visit. We ate in the restaurant.

The staff are just 'going through the motions'. Zero customer attention. Our meal was mediocre and my husband went to the bar for another drink and the barmaid served the customer in front of us - didn't acknowledge him and left the bar! He waited for about 5 minutes for service with nobody behind the bar. Another customer came up...

Basic deal is 2 fillet steaks and a bottle of house red for 20 quid.... bargain. We both upgraded to the ribeye. Good location with parking outside and on the neighbouring streets. Clean .tidy .traditional. welcoming. Booked by phone for the restaurant. When we arrived we were advised the restaurant was full and seats were reserved in the bar area......no...

Special night away so specifically requested The Ledger Suite with Spa Bath. On arrival the staff were pleasant and helpful showing us to a lovely large suite and giving details of the following morning's breakfast. Unfortunately the smoke alarm sounder was ringing in the room which we quickly asked to be remedied and it was promptly removed though not replaced....
