Room was reached by climbing many stairs and going along corridors. No lift in the hotel. During pub opening hours you have to go through the bar to reach your room. My wife found this intimidating since some of the pub clientele were a little rough. Room a little shabby but clean and toilet and shower adequate. Free hearty breakfast... More

This hotel really needs either condemning or a massive overhaul, it is a completely vile and an unhealthy place to stay!! The room was in a disgusting state, dirt and dust everywhere, walls and skirting boards all falling apart and rotten. There was only one lampshade and a used tissue and empty tablet packet in the bedside cabinet. The bed... More

It is true that you get what you pay for, but when you book based on what you see advertised, you expect a fair level of accommodation. There were buckets on the landing to collect the rainwater coming through the ceiling, the room was disgusting with cracks and holes in the walls, battered furniture and a sloping bathroom floor. Shower... More

Very average, but I have stayed in worse places. Stayed here twice over the last few months. Single room was £45 for the night, but £60 when I booked through booking.com. So book direct because it's cheaper. Has its own parking if you can find it, it's tricky, you use the multi storey car park entrance then turn right at... More

After travelling from Sheffield for a family Christening I had booked via another Site.... booking was for myself & my 6 year old daughter was disappointed to be told that after paying £45 that the booking was room only (was pointed in direction of local amenities for breakfast) I was only informed of this when asking about breakfast times, was... If I read the recent reviews I do not think I would have entered the place but as I hadn't eaten here in several years and little else was open on this bank holiday we thought we would try it for lunch. We were very pleasantly surprised. Certainly beat wetherspoons for menu and variety of food, let alone customer service... More

Stayed here for three nights in two rooms. The building is old and very interesting, but poorly maintained and dated. The rooms were not that clean generally (lots of grime/dust) , but the beds were both clean and comfy, so sleep was fine. Shower/ensuite useable but in a poor condition. Basically, if you don't mind staying in dated, poorly looked... More

No means of drying hair. No heating. No one on reception to complain to on leaving and even had to find someone... More

This is an historical building and the inn mentiond in two of Dicken's novels. Once would expect more. The plus side is that it has private parking which was the winning factor over JD Weatherspoons up the road. The reception is clean, receptionist is welcoming and friendly. I asked about booking a table for dinner and breakfast - it is... More

Not a lap of luxury But didnt want or to pay for a lap of luxury! What we got was a very comfortable en-suite room plenty of storage, tea and coffee making facilities. Clean sheets and towels complimentary sachets of shower gel and soap and adequate toilet rolls. AND very friendly staff nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast is only... More
