Place looks fabulous, large outside area, lots of seating inside, restaurant and bar food on offer. Bedroom large and bed solo comfy. The only thing was the road was noisey so just take earplugs. Staff friendly and helpful.

Quiet room, with small separate sitting area. Could be noisy for those wanting an early night though as there is an outside bar and eating area below the rooms. This didn't affect us as we were out until late every night. Reasonably well equipped. Good location on outskirts of town, friendly staff. Basic continental breakfast included. Can pay extra for... This was a great choice for our stay in Maidstone. We were catching the eurotrain the following day so decided to spend a night in Maidstone to avoid any pressure of traffic delays on the motorways. At first a little reluctant to select 2 x double rooms for our family however it worked out to be a perfect choice. The... More

We stayed one night in a top floor double room with a view to the front of the hotel over the large beer garden. The weather had been hot that day, so we made use of the electric cooling fan which was a very welcome addition to the non-airconditioned room. The room was reasonably clean, but up two flights of... I rarely complain about a hotel and I stay away all over the country! I stayed for a night on a business trip, the building is lovely with old features and an appealing look however, I had to prop open the window (as it didn't stay open on its own) with a cup (which had a crack in). There was... More

Stayed here a couple of times for a week on business. It's comfortable enough, a good price and an easy walk into town. Food is pretty decent - although it does vary from day to day (not sure, maybe different chefs). The only downside is the noise - great weather for both stays so a fair bit of noise from... More

The hotel is conveniently located near to the center of Maidstone. The hotel's breakfast was good and I had dinner at the restaurant which was also a very good experience. The staff was always extremely helpful and welcoming. I had to change room in the middle of my stay, and one of the rooms was extremely big while the other... More

Stayed Saturday evening, lovely big room with its own entrance hall, beds pushed together so not all together that comfortable, but must say very clean. Accomodating staff, not a bad stay, apart unfortunately for the breakfast. It said buffet style, this was limited to bread, yogurts, cereal and little wrapped cheese, which I know seems a lot but could just... More

this is my third visit here and for a single traveller it is ideal. The food is tasty and good value and the rooms are comfortable and spacious. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Built in 1797 to house the officers' quarters of the Invicta Barracks, this distinctive lodge is one of the most welcoming hotels in Maidstone. Rather than repelling Napoleonic troops it now serves as relaxing budget accommodation for short breaks and business travel, and is ideally placed for exploring Kent or nearby towns like Chatham and East Malling. The colonial-style building offers 12 comfy rooms and a cosy pub, where you can unwind with a pint of cask ale and some freshly cooked, seasonally inspired food.Maidstone is Kent's business heart, but there's plenty to see and do besides attending an event at the East Malling Conference Centre. It's best known as home to the beautiful Leeds Castle, with its 500 acres of scenic parkland and popular golf course, but you could also enjoy the town's theatres, bars or busy shopping centre. Or you could explore the area via water, taking a canoe along the River Medway or a more leisurely boat trip on the Allington Belle or Kentish Lady. ... more   less
