I went to Milton Keynes for a family celebration. This hotel was in the perfect location for where I needed to be. The reception staff were extremely helpful and friendly, the room was spotless but very warm as it was a boiling hot weekend and I could not open the window. The adjoining pub/restaurant was just a few steps away and staff in there were also very friendly and helpful. I would have no hesitation in staying here again. The view of the lake from my window was just glorious. I struggled to climb to the second floor with my luggage as there was no lift, but the view was worth it.

We travelled to the Caldecote Hotel on bank holiday Monday. We arrived in the chaotic carpark around 3 pm. There were cars parked everywhere including on the grass verges. This felt rather intimidating at the time, but shows just how popular the restaurant and lake is to the locals population. So we managed to park and check-in without any further hiccups. We'd previously been on the road for over 4 hours and had a visit with family We hadn't seen in a long time. So we were hot sticky and shattered. We had booked 2 rooms for the 6 of us. The rooms were next to each other and were both beautiful and clean. To say there was so much excitement going on outside the room was quiet and peaceful even with the windows open. We were able to take a nap before getting ready for our evening meal reservation. We had been advised to book a table for that evening because of the bank holiday. Standing in the queue we heard a waitress telling the family in front that most of the menu was now unavailable. So I was discussing with my family what other arrangements we could make for having an evening meal. We were greeted by a full of life character by the name of Jack. Who assured us that because we had a reservation he would do everything he could to help us order food that we would all be very happy with. The service that evening from Jack was simply impeccable. He sticks out in my mind as being larger than life. With incredible customer services qualities. Even my mum thought he was great (and that takes some doing). We were told that steak was completely sold out. So my husband who wanted the mixed grill was very disappointed but had no need to be, as somehow the kitchen was able to accommodate him. Myself u had the Last steak and ale pie in the house. Omg never seen anything like it. It was amazing. All 7 of us enjoyed every bit of the food. From a kids burger to hunter's chicken and the sea food mixed grill and salmon. Jack kept us entertained throughout the evening and was so supportive throughout the decision making of meals. Without him we might all have ended up with fish and chips. He told jokes and kept the kids entertained but at the same time didn't hurt anyone's feelings at any point. In this restaurant you get first class treatment. Especially during covid times when you are unable to go yourself to the bar. Our glasses were not empty for long. We spent 3 nights in the hotel and had a lovely 3 lovely breakfasts. The waiting staff were fantastic.

Staff are warm and welcoming. Setting and location is amazing. Very good for families with the lake, play park and mini railway. The attached Greene King pub is stunning, again with friendly staff. Short drive to Bletchley Park. Highly recommend.

I can not speak highly enough of the hotel. It’s location is fantastic both in terms of ease of access and surrounding area. The cleanliness and decor were also very good and the staff were very polite and professional. The only issue we had with our room was that there is no air conditioning and the room did get uncomfortably hot at times. We were provided with a fan but this was not enough to keep the room cool. Our biggest issue was the connecting restaurant. During breakfast, service was slow, food was cold and we felt awkward asking for anything, as if we were a burden to the staff. Cups were unclean, side plates were sticky and cutlery was mismatched and in poor condition. During dinner, food took over 50mins to arrive (we were told that there was a delay on arrival though), service was very slow and we had to ask for our order to be taken. The availability of menu items was ridiculous, and was the worst part of our visit. There were 4 of us and we all ordered different meals and none of our meals were available! We then tried ordering alternative options and again most of these were unavailable too. We eventually managed to actually place an order but when the food arrived, 50mins later, it was not enjoyable. Gammon was overcooked, greasy and very fatty. Scampi was cold. Burger buns were burnt and chips were cold. Overall, would recommend the hotel but would avoid the restaurant.
