I booked the larger function room for 67 guests for a carvery & disco afterwards. All the staff involved couldn't have been more helpful & courteous, from Tammy, the events planner to Sandy who managed the event on the night. The food was delicious, the portions generous with an amazing selection of vegetables including roasted beetroot. My room was large...

Pleasantly surprised by the choice and quality on offer. Attended a pre comedy night dinner with a mixture of family and friends thoroughly enjoyed the whole evening. The mushroom starter was fantastic and the lamb shank was one of the better ones I have had

I stayed here as I was in Basingstoke on business and chose this hotel for its central location. The hotel is right in the middle of Basingstoke, handy for shopping and loads of restaurants. The hotel has free parking, which goes down very well in my book! As I drove into the car park I thought I was at the...

the rooms are very average the bed is a very cheap and no or very little support. the tv is a small portable flat screen just. there is no double glazing in the rooms so cold and noise can be heard from the outside so i would not recommend for a quiet stay

Well considering this is a 3 star hotel I think its highly overrated, give me a Premier Inn or Travelodge any day Ok I arrived just after 10 am but the reception staff repeatedly made it clear I should not be allowed in the room till 1400. My room was not ready however they moved me to another, I couldn't...

Booked this hotel because we wanted to be near to the train station to get to the darts at the Ally pally. We were not disappointed. The staff were very helpful and even allowed us to book in early. The room was warm, clean and very comfortable but a little dated. The breakfast was excellent and again the staff were...

I like this hotel. Maybe it's only because it's in the city center and right in front of Festival Place. Maybe because this has been the fist hotel I have visited when I first went to Basingstoke. Maybe because the people at the reception are friendly and the restaurant is good (a great breakfast!). Maybe it's only my idea. But...

I was invited to the Red Lion Hotel for Christmas lunch with a group of friends. We had 6 pre-lunch drinks from the bar, all of which I thought were a mite expensive. I held my peace, but later on I obtained a price list and discovered that I had been overcharged by £5.00. One of my friends went to...

Stayed in the Red Lion on the lead up to Christmas. It was a wise choice. Staff very pleasant and food fresh and cooked perfectly. Would have been good to have had a wider choice of wines by the glass but maybe that's being petty. Room a decent size with decent lighting. The Red Lion deserves 5 stars for that...
