The Red Lion is an abysmal hotel. A strong statement, yes but fully deserved. Let me highlight the issues faced: 1. The bathroom in room 8 is disgusting, with significant black mould marks around the bath. The shower curtain is also filthy. 2. The bathroom is incredibly cold. 3. The 'shower' in my room was not fit for purpose. It... More

Stayed 19/20 Nov for annual shindig. Staff as always could not be nicer or do any more to make stay very enjoyable, nothing too much trouble including lovely lad who provided coffee for dirty stop outs at 3:30am! Always a pleasure, see you next year.

We booked the Red Lion for our wedding reception as it was well priced and was geographically close to the church and town centre amenities. Tammy, the events co-ordinator - was extremely helpful and professional..but always pleasant, cheerful and approachable. All the hotel staff were very pleasant and helpful. The food was excellent and everything we asked for was provided.... More

Stayed as part of a family visit home on a Friday and Saturday night. We all slept badly due to noise from outside the hotel, primarily revellers of one description or another. The rooms were rather small, with unopenable windows and heating on 24/7 with no apparent thermostat. One shower unit appeared to be wheelchair accessible in that the drainage... More

Really nice people run this place and are always friendly and willing to help. The bedrooms aren't necessarily the most exciting but they are spacious, comfortable and well stocked. The breakfast is great and the beer on tap is good. All in all a very pleasant place to stay and very good value for money.

I usually stay at one of the Premier Inns in the town for work, but stayed here last night as the others were full. I had previously changed the date of this booking twice due to last minute changes to travel arrangements- on both occasions the staff were more than helpful. Arrived late to a very friendly, helpful and chatty... More

We stayed here in October 2016 as met up with Family for the Octoberfest. We had originally booked thru a .com site who put me, my wife and Daughter in a single double bed room, once we arrived the Hotel receptionist immediately upgraded us with no increase in cost! My only gripe was that there was no food available on... More

I have stopped at this hotel twice whilst on business in the area. I have found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. The food is excellent and presented well at a perfectly acceptable price. The room although a little dated was clean and tidy. I look forward to stopping there again I would recommend this hotel for room,food,drink... More
