A super country hotel just outside Basingstoke. The best rooms are in the original house. The rooms in the extension are good sized and comfortable too, just not as quirky. Friendly staff and good food on offer.
Our party of 6 came for lunch today (Sat 7th March) to celebrate 3 family member birthdays including my father of 89. Alas 2 members were held up but it was no issue for a delay to the meal start with all the staff being fantastic and courteous throughout the day. All three courses of food were fabulous and the wine lovely too ; all enjoyed in a wonderful restaurant. This visit was a tremendous success, and we’ll definitely come again as we recommend it highly.
Stayed here a couple of times. Lovely country hotel set in wonderful grounds. The bar and restaurant areas are very nice. The rooms are good. They have a door between the bedroom and the corridor where the bathroom is which limits sound from the corridor outside. The shower could do with being more powerful. All staff are wonderful. This hotel is very geared up for weddings and functions. Log fire!!!
Stayed for 2 nights with my family as a group of 14. Price was very reasonable for a very nice hotel. We had a separate room for both evenings at a small extra charge, a very nice dining room with fireplace and a table capable of seating 16 comfortably. The food menu wasn’t very extensive but the food itself was lovely. Attentive staff always happy to help and on the ball. Breakfast was in the main dining room which is a bright beautiful room. The room we stayed in was mostly in good order and bed was comfortable. Something for the owners to improve on, the rooms have DVD players in but no lead capable of connecting them to the tv.
My wife and I purchased a deal with Voyage Prive for BBD for Friday 7th which included a bottle of Prosecco and £35.00 pp for the evening meal. On arrival on late afternoon we noticed there was a wedding reception in the foyer and lounge but it was only a small party and did not spoil our drink in the bar (Andrew attentive and pleasant) and the lovely log fire foyer lounge. There was no lift to our room on the 1st floor but helped immediately on checking in and we found our room (216) clean, tidy and spacious. There was air conditioning tea and coffee, biscuits, bottled water, plenty of hangers and space. The Super King sized bed was very comfy both mattress and pillows. The bathroom was also very clean with shower over the bath and hooray a hotel that still has electric shaver point. The evening dinner in the Conservatory was excellent (Starter..Beetroot Cured Salmon, Chicken & Duck Terrine...Mains.. Smoked Haddock Risotto, Braised Ham Hock...Dessert...Rice Pudding of Winter Spiced Rhubarb...3 Choice Cheese Board).....The only things that spoilt the restaurant we think is no linen tablecloths (yet linen knapkins), lack of lighting on the table (perhaps a nice candle or tealight) for ambience and also a 10% charge on our dinner bill. The service was very good, attentive and pleasant. The following morning we had our breakfast once again in the Conservatory (nice bright and airy in the daytime) and had a very enjoyable breakfast (both the buffet and the excellent cooked ...great selection). Very good efficient service. I would have given a 5 review except for the restaurant 10% but recommend staying at the hotel for others.…
