No hot water, broken lights, smelt of drugs, very run down hotel. Could be such a nice hotel if it was looked after. What im guessing was the manager walked behind the desk when I checked out, he was wearing some dirty trackie bottoms but acted like he was in charge, this was not very professional! Would never use this... More

We booked Christmas Day dinner at the Ivy. We all enjoyed our starters and desserts but the main course was not very nice because of the following reasons: The turkey was tasteless, dry and more dark meat than breast was served There was not enough vegetables There was no extra gravy, just what was on the plate which was not... Although we didnt stay here, we did have a lovely meal at the Ivy Hotel. From what I saw, the hotel is spotlessly clean and the staff were very attentive. We did have a small problem with the meal, in that they forgot our desserts, however, this was compensated by a free liqueur, and we did eventually get our puds!... More

I stayed here on business in early Oct. The hotel definitely requires some TLC to bring it up to what I would consider an acceptable standard for business users. The reception area is cold and uninviting. The rooms are tired and dated. The bathroom in my room was what let it down the most. Poor lighting, no hot water at... More

Stayed at the Ivy two years ago and it was very pleasant. However, two years on, things have gone downhill. On the plus side first the food is still good, the staff are great and the location is a very convenient spot for tourist attractions and Swindon. However, the shortage of hot water was very tough to deal with and... More

Stayed for a wedding reception in the function room. Good food and the bar served a very pleasant real ale. We had a room in the extension which was very clean and tidy but as others have noted the bathroom was a bit tired (but perfectly functional). (Other wedding attendees had rooms in the older part of the hotel and... More

The Ivy seemed a perfect venue for a weekend away with friends as it was equidistant to where we both live. The hotel is a little dated and the rooms need some work doing on them but understandably in this economic climate a privately owned hotel might find it difficult to do everything at once. Nevertheless, we enjoyed our two... More

We attended the Ivy Hotel for a Friday wedding and were impressed by the venue (albeit a little tired) and, more importantly, by every member of staff. Their level of service and friendliness was second-to-none – nothing was too much trouble and they went out of their way to help. It was so nice to see people providing a high... More

We stayed one night for a wedding. The Sunday lunch was excellent, and so was breakfast the following day. Their chef is obviously very talented. Unfortunately, the rooms are not up to standard at all. The fancy faucets in the bathroom don't work properly, and we could not get hot water either in the evening or the morning. Bathrooms are...
