A lovely place. Nice atmosphere and decor. Great food and excellent service. Very easy access from Derby. This was my first visit and I was instantly impressed. The staff are genuinely friendly and professional. My wife and I will definitely return!
We stayed 2 nights at the farmhouse Inn for a wedding near by. Upon arriving for check in service was slow and we waiting nearly 10 minutes before I walked over to someone and asked if they could help us. They were very pleasant and apologised for the wait. Getting into the room, we stayed in room 1. Nicely layed out room but unfortunately looking quite tired and on the brink of needing a refurb. The carpets are stained, the mattress is shot so you can now feel every spring and there are pipes in the room which hiss and bang all night as you are trying to sleep. The bathroom again needs an update, all fully functioning but just tired. We then then went for dinner which I must say was great. One of the nicest pizzas I have had in a pub and the staff were attentive. Breakfast the next morning was good we all commented on how nice it was, but the following day the breakfast was awful. Maybe the staff had changed but I asked for a sausage sandwich, it came on stale bread with no butter and 2 cremated sausages inside. No sauce was offered and there was no decaf coffee or tea available. All in all I would say a very average stay but the potential for this place to exceed expectations with a little investment is massive. I would stay again if given a different room I would think. …
Booked in for a last minute family meal. Waitress was lovely, really friendly. I like this place but it's so noisy in the bottom half where the fire is. We had to shout. Have to say for what we paid food was average. £12 for a sharing camembert that came with 3 small pieces of bread, not presented well at all. Husband and Daughter enjoyed their mains. I had the fish and chips, the batter was shocking. Crispy, over cooked and so thick it wasn't edible. Had to recover the fish, the fish was sat on the chips which had absorbed all the fat. £15 for a poor meal. The waitress questioned if everything was ok and and said she would raise it with the kitchen. £93 for 3 of us. The prices need to reflect in the quality. The waitress was a credit to the place.
Called in for an evening meal was over £5 a pint for mediocre lager food prices extortionate at the end of the dayIt’s in Mackworth not the south of France so went somewhere else and had a lovely meal for half the priceWill not be going back went to the pub up the road and had a lovely meal for half the price
A lovely restaurant. Our friends were running late but they were so accommodating and kept a table for us! Service fantastic, so helpful. The food is average though, my Camembert wasn’t completely gooey with bits that weren’t melted. I also had king prawn, chorizo and mussel risotto. The risotto had a very strange after taste and the mussels didn’t taste fresh. I was so excited so I was pretty disappointed. Can’t complain about the setting or staff though!
