Stayed for one night. Sarah the supervisor pretty much ignored me at check in, whilst training a young chap. She talked him through the check in process (happy with that) but being referred to in the third person all through check in was weird at best, plain rude at worst. The room: filthy, run down. I checked in late, so the dirt was evident in the morning whilst getting ready for work. Stains all over carpets, iron in an unacceptable state with all buttons missing, shower curtain yellow with dirt, long hair in pump bottles...topped up by the smell of urine. On check out, I asked for an invoice for car parking. Sarah told me I was not charged. It took a spikey conversation to remind her I did pay, just needed a receipt. I gave the room feedback and the response, rudely delivered was "nothing I can do about that, you should have asked to be moved". No apology and no eye contact. I just wanted to give the feedback that cleanliness needed to be better, but was made to feel uncomfortable. Her tone is argumentative and there is no customer care. Your rooms are dirty, and you don't care penta...if your staff made me feel they care and listened, I wouldn't need to post stuff like this on TripAdvisor... Your service and product is not up to scratch.…
I recently had to stay in Derby for a work course for a week (Monday to Friday ) and had the pleasure to stay at the Pentahotel . Whilst the bar and restaurant were not open due to the restrictions, the hotel was bright, modern and clean. The bedroom was clean and had all the mod cons. The front desk employees were friendly and courteous, going the extra mile to make sure i had everything i needed. Overall, a fabulous stay and i look forward to coming back to experience the rest of the hotel facilities.
Stayed for 1 night with business. First visit and won’t be the last. Hotel very clean staff helpful and courteous excellent Covid-19 things in place for safety including breakfast table ordering. Good location couple good miles away from city centre. Hotel has a lovely quirky feel to it excellent decor in line with a cinema theme.
Really good night sleep, the room was spacious and very clean. Dinner in the restaurant was good, not too many people around which meant it was spacious to keep good distance. Despite signs clearly visible saying wear masks around the hotel I still say 2 or 3 guests walking in and around without one, and they were not challenged either. Breakfast I choose to have in the restaurant rather than brown paper bag, it was ok. Nothing special. The baked beans were very salty. Overall a good stay, staff very friendly.
A nice, neat quirky hotel situated in the Pride Park area of Derby within a hearty 10-15m walk into the City Centre (more about that in a bit). The staff, to be fair are really nice, friendly and will do anything for you, but with regards Covid restrictions, particularly non plus. There is a nice restaurant around the corner called 'Seven' (see separate review) and there's a Harvester and Hungry Horse within a few minute's walk. With regards location, it's a nice walk into the City alongside the river, but I wouldn't recommend this after dark. A taxi costs no more than a fiver.
