Shame as newly refurbished - room was lovely with kettle, microwave and fridge - nice new shower room and walk in wardrobe - hairdryer didn't work and we told reception on departure. Unfortunately the rooms have the old style sash Windows and no double glazing and we were kept awake by drunks and druggies shouting outside until about 5a.m. It... More

This hotel was spotlessly clean but very tired, comfortable beds. It was undergoing renovations downstairs but the workmen were seen and not heard at unsociable hours . The staff were extremely helpful and pleasant. The location is excellent . If it is just a bed you are looking whilst therefore is going on for then this is the place .

We went in but no one served us - there was one local at the bar and a table of 3 ladies - we were all were stunned no-one attended me. It looks nice from the outside but that is just the frontage. Avoid like the plague - there are much nicer places in Gloucester to go to. Management seems... More

The hotel is well located. Construction crews were working on refitting the breakfast room, so we had to go out for breakfast. (We made our booking months earlier, and so were not aware of this issue.) The room was pleasant and comfortable. The best thing about the hotel is its reception staff: they were so friendly and helpful. The weather... More

This hotel is being refurbished. This is made clear at booking. Receptionist a delight, workmen very polite and at the end of the day, they have a job to do, and in the scorching heat, probably not an easy one. Room clean, bed comfy, great bathroom, though shower a bit of a monster!!! No noise heard at all, good peaceful... More

No lift, No breakfast despite advertising as a restaurant with light airy rooms. Stuffy, hot, very very noisy with drunks, druggies, ruffians and rough sleepers shouting to each other noisily until the early hours immediately outside our bedroom window. Torn carpets, mouldy shower what more could you want! After two sleepless nights we demanded a change of room (with a... More

Stayed here two nights. Not pleasant at all. The room was musty and stuffy, but the windows couldn't be opened. The furnishings, bed, bathroom were all greatly worn. The world's loudest seagulls were outside squawking constantly (not the fault of the hotel, of course, but did add to general awfulness of the place). TV and shower very difficult to operate.... Having booked this hotel as a location near the cathedral in order to attend the Three Choirs Festival several months before we visited, checked Trip Advisor the week before we stayed. Realised that all rooms were upstairs and with no lift. Made email contact and spoke to roombooking staff beforehand to request a room on first floor as my mother... More

Stayed for the Blues Festival and loved Gloucester but the hotel was awful. Staff were rude and unhelpful. The front door was left unlocked at night so anyone could walk in off the street, which is busy and opposite a noisy pub so didn't feel safe. Wouldn't recommend at all, the place is terrible!
