Clean economical if somewhat spartan rooms in Gloucester city centre with own parking. Good value for money with pleasant host and hostess. easily accessible. Suited me as single traveller but probably not families

Myself and a few friends have stayed here twice now, mainly as a stop over for a club night in Gloucester. The rooms are cheap, clean, ensuite and extremely adequate. Towels and toiletries, tea and coffee making facilities are provided in the rooms. The guest house is a few minutes walk from Gloucester Quays and has free parking. There is... More

It was all I wanted ;a friendly welcome, comfortable single room, 24 hour access, including kitchen/dining room with microwave, kettle, toaster, fridge with juice, proper milk, bread and spreads. Parking on site. Very easy walking for city centre and the docks. Although fully booked, it was very quiet.

I stayed here for 4 nights. The Stars given were mainly for ease of parking and the war welcome I received. It's unfair to rate the guesthouse on its appearance as there is a lot of building work going on inside so it does resemble a building site. Rooms are practical and ensuite This guesthouse offers a self service breakfast... More

July 2016: The guest house has now been completely refurbished and we thank our previous guests for their patience. Not every business has huge monetary resources and the financial capacity to close down a business and refurbish it. We had to do it the hard way and earn the money to refurb as we went along. But it is done... More

My family and I stopped here last weekend for the Christmas market and I must say we were pleasantly surprised. After reading the reviews on here I must admit I was expecting a much different hotel to what we found. The hotel was clean. The rooms we're tidy and it was clear that renovations were actively taking place. Both rooms... More

This accomodation was thoroughly unpleasent. The room smelt of damp, the bathroom facilities were partly covered in padding held up by duck tape and the general feel of the guest house was of delapidation, scummyness and neglect. The decor and lighting was were of a standard you'd expect in a very old squat and and the bedding cheap, thin and... More

We arrived with no notice having been let down by another place, and found the people at the City Lodge very pleasant and helpful. Our room was fine: no unnecesary frills, but everything we needed......breakfast available whenever....and no problems. We wouldn't hesitate to come here first in the future.

This establishment is in a leafy residential area of Gloucester, opposite a large popular public park. If it was a luxury place it could command high prices. But it is not. It is basic, clean and functional. In ethos it is not dissimilar to the many independent hostels and budget traveller accommodation throughout Europe, but in individual rooms. There is... More

Well I must have been reasonably happy with my first stay as I returned for a couple of days in November 2011. They are undergoing major renovations, which I think that the owners are doing themselves. So not the best time to do a review really!! Some parts have been completed though, including a ground floor breakfast area which is... More
