It was adequate for one night. Not much of a welcome. No sign of Sophie. Brief glimpse of her husband. Had to ask for towels. No advice on how to walk to Ripley. Reported that the toilet flush handle was loose as we left but it seems that is a recurring problem

This is a good B&B but at £100 a room there are some things I think could be improved. We arrived to be greeted and taken to the room , on our way we were presented with some milk . I thought this very nice as you mostly get uht . The problem with the fresh milk is the room was... More

We are regular customers of the coffee shop and have never been disappointed. Super food and great value for money. Sophie's also does Sunday lunches and Bistro evenings. The menu is extensive with everything from a bacon sandwich to full meals and the cakes/scones/bakes are made on the premises. There is always a great smell emanating from the kitchen. Great... Book here and you will not be disappointed. Rooms are tastefully decorated, very well presented and wonderfully clean. Sophie was welcoming, a great host and an excellent cook. The breakfast really set us up for a day at the races and her date and walnut scones fresh from the oven were a little taste of heaven. We would recommend Sophie's... More

Great stay in an excellent guest house. Double room is on the top floor and there are opening Velux windows to take advantage of the country views to the rear, great design! we arrived later than planned but arrangements were made for access and excellent recommendation for evening meal in adjacent village. Unfortunately there are no pubs in Hampsthwaite. Breakfast... More

Great welcome, access and decor. Very clean and tasteful. Breakfast the best we had in Yorkshire, great quality ingredients and well presented. Would have liked to stay longer and are planning to go back.

Sophie B&B really is a bit special. Rarely is a place better on a second visit but Sophie's was. On our arrival we were greeted like long lost friends and shown to our spotless room on the top floor, WOW what a wonderful view. It was fairly late after we had freshened up etc. the Coffee shop was closing but... More

This was our second stay at Sophies and was a one night birthday treat from my girlfriend. Upon arrival, Sophie had left us some complimentary cakes as the coffee shop was not open due to it being a Tuesday. This was a lovely gesture and one of those touches which made all the difference to our stay. The room was... More

The warm friendly welcome that we received upon arrival set the scene for the rest of our 2-night stay. The room was modern, well appointed and spotlessly clean, as was the tiled en-suite bathroom with a large corner bath, complete with shower over it. The freshly prepared and cooked excellent breakfast is served in the restaurant/coffee shop, with a wide... More
