We have been going to the Chequers for many years - the carvery is excellent and Wedneday night is the best steak night anywhere! However, I felt that I had to write a review after they catered for a one-off private function for us. The food was excellent, the helpings were incredibly generous, and the staff worked tirelessly to ensure... More

Staying locally went to the Chequers Inn for a Sunday lunch. A good sign was that it was very busy (booking is advised). They served a traditional carvery all freshly cooked and served with humour and decent sized portions. Having had a starter (tasty soup) and main course had no room for any of their homemade desserts (just as well... More

We arrived early before our friends do had a Drink at the bar and a chat with the lovely barmaid. We had booked for the carvery which was as excellent as usual with beautiful tender roasts and delicious mashed potatoes and the usual veg carrots cauliflower and cabbage (my only complaint is alternative veg now and again would be nice).... This place is a carnivores haven. Good choice of starters. Two of us had prawn cocktail which was filled with juicy prawns. One had the homemade chicken liver pate which was served with plenty of toast and garnish. The carvery is their speciality and seems to be the most popular. Choice of either pork, beef or turkey. Huge choice of... More

We chose the carvery there were 3 meats all beautifully cooked and unusually we were asked 'is that enough'. There was a good choice of veg and the gravy was lovely. When they came for our plates we were asked if we had finished or Di we want to go for more. The sweets were on display and they looked... More

We stayed here for the weekend and cannot fault the staff at this establishment. Friendly from the get go and nothing is too much, absolutely incredible service. The food is also very good, unfortunately we didn't get chance to have a lunch or evening meal but the breakfasts were fabulous. Everything was incredible, however unfortunately the plumbing let them down... More

We did'nt stay here, just popped in for a Sunday evening meal. 2 perfectly cooked steaks and home made puddings. Can't say enough about the quality of food here. The steaks we had where cooked to perfection ( 1 rare + 1 Med rare) both served at exactly the same time. Perfect homemade chips & salad. The deserts where served... More

Good value accommodation. The room and en-suite were clean and a good size, though other guests had a tendency to walk right passed (unnecessarily) our bathroom window. There is a restaurant with a carvery , lots of parking space and handily placed for Harrogate , Ripon, and Fountains Abbey.
