Recently home from another October half-term week in the cottage belonging to Malcolm and Caroline from the Crown Hotel. It was just as fantastic as last year - cosy, comfortable and exactly what we were wanting in terms of peace and quiet. Seriously, it's a perfect little gem, and we are already looking forward to another visit sometime soon. The...

One Night Stay to experience North Yorkshire shooting on the Moors. It does not get better than this for true Yorkshire Hospitality in a Yorkshire Inn in a small village. This is not a luxury establishment but a value for money Inn with proper Pub and locally sourced food - Grouse, Partridge and Pheasant on the Menu. Malcolm, his family...

I've been here for a lunchtime drink on half a dozen occasions over the last year - and have enjoyed every visit. Middlesmoor is well worth a little detour for its beautiful view of Gouthwaite Reservoir and the surrounding dales. And after admiring the view, where better to repair to than the Crown Inn, the only pub in the village....

We were staying with friends in a cottage near the Crown Hotel walking the Nidderdale Way. From the very first drink we knew that the Crown was a "gem". The welcome by the landlord Malcolm, staff and locals was just great. Malcolm tries to come across as the grumpy Yorkshire landlord but failed miserably. The banter was friendly and funny...

Arrived here after a walk to Scar Reservoir from Stud Fold. There were four of us and we sat outside. I went in to buy a couple of pints and two teas to be greeted by a cry of "Bugger off!!" from a fat bearded bloke sat at the bar(who turned out to be the landlord). "Its a bloody pub...

We came across the Crown by chance on an evening drive out. Difficult choice from extensive menu and specials board went for Scampi and Lamb Shank both which were excellent portions and great value. Fantastic local yorkshire pub with great landlord and staff.

Like other reviewers, we visited the Crown whilst camping at Studfold Farm. The view down Nidderdale from up there is lovely, really unspoilt and well worth a hike up to. We were there on Sunday lunch and managed to squeeze in alongside a christening and hen party! Best for us was the awesome steak and ale pie - just how...

The Crown offers good food, always well kept beer and a friendly atmosphere. The owner can serve up a robust opinion or joke but never experienced any of the rudeness some others here attest to. Well worth a visit if in Middlesmoor, Lofthouse or camping at how stean (can walk straight up through the fields) or studhold.

Called in recently whilst staying at Studfold camping. It is quite a hike up the hill, but well worth the effort. The views on the way up and down are stunning. The pub is warm and welcoming when we visited. It is very traditional with lots of local banter. The beer is well kept and well served. The food was...
