Attended a charity ball. The venue is amazing. The layout and the architecture is stunning. Shame it took me 30 minutes to get served a Diet Coke. They didn't know whether they had any. It was eventually served out of a nearby bottle. I got the flat dregs. The barman got locked out of his till. He didn't know the... More

Visited this hotel for a 2 night break and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Hotel is quite old fashioned but in keeping with its architecture and name. Room was good as was the breakfast and evening meal although we ate out on our 2nd night. Would return...

I spent the day at the hotel enjoying the spa and afternoon tea groupon package which was excellent value for money. The staff in the spa were very friendly and welcoming and the treatments were excellent. The pool unfortunately was not open the day we visited but the gym whilst on the small side was tidy and well maintained. The... More

Just spent 2 days here at a meeting and must say it was one of the worst venues I've ever had to sit in. It is a huge hotel and must be a nightmare to maintain, however we were placed in the carriage suite which was definitely in need of some tlc. The hotel reception area is quite modern and... More

Stayed here on business last weekend. The hotel is very grand and has a great position looking over Harrogate. The room was ok if a little dingy but clean. But the staff are totally disinterested in customer service. Queuing 20 mins to get a drink with only a few people in the bar while the guy keeps disappearing god knows... More

Unfortunately I didn't get one of the refurbished rooms as shown in picture ,therefore £109 bed and breakfast was exstremley bad value for money. Shame they are not honest and let the shabby rooms for a lot less, also hot water not always available

Totally agree with 'JaynrManchester' review. A mammoth and awesome building welcomes a lot of people daily, hence it is nice to see the public areas (ballrooms, dining, hallways, etc) kept in such good condition. A dinner event (or wedding) here is stunning visually and ambience. Pity the food isn't up to the same standard as the grand building suggests. The... More

We happened to be in Harrogate on one of the busiest weekends ever in the area so we only managed to get a double room - this was ok and big enough. The upkeep on a hotel of this size and age must be horrendously expensive so I can understand why some areas and bedrooms are outdated and jaded. It would be better to close the worst of the rooms until they can be updated rather than risk adverse reviews. Our room was on the dreaded fourth floor, needed decorating and had... More

This hotel was once very grand, but is now very tired. The check in takes simply hours.....goodness knows why.....it took so long that we....and others.....were offered drinks while we waited! There is a charge for using the car park....outrageous.....and do not ask for a cocktail in the bar...anything beyond a gin and tonic is out of the question. Room: reasonable.... More
