My wife and I had 2 nights at the Haycock between house moves. Fantastic building that is looking tired and dated. It is in need of a major cash injection if it is going to keep up with other local hotel options in Stamford or Oundle. Parts of it feel like an up market B+B. You have to visit to...

The night manager went out of his way to help. Could not have done more. The location was ideal for our trip. Beautiful old buildings with lots of character and charm which leant a holiday feel to the whole experience rather than just a night away. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

My wife and I had a lovely stay and dinner on 13th February. Staff were excellent, especially lady on reception, so attentive and helpful. Room in main building had most wonderful bathroom and we will definitely return another day. Having read some of the previous reviews, I would say they were wrong!

Very friendly and helpful staff in this hotel situated in a beautiful old building in this picturesque village. The beauty of the building is slightly faded, though, and it could do with a bit of paint, new curtains and a bit more care. The breakfast was excellent.

The Haycock is in such a lovely, useful location and is a wonderful, old building. It could be such a nice hotel, but... We paid £59 for our double standard room. It was what you would expect for the price - clean and tidy but an average mattress. The bathroom was clean but very basic and old fashioned - tiles...

The building and setting is absolutely amazing but there is a sense, throughout the hotel, of shabbyness. The décor has no real theme to it, with parts being very outdated and unkept. The food was okay but not what you would expect for the price. We were given an option to choose which room we had and with our initial...

We were 'upgraded' to a room in major need of TLC. Bathroom radiator not working VERY cold. Shower tray stained and head partially clogged, hook for bathrobes hanging off the wall. Mould growth from condensation on ceiling. Spoke to the manager who was preoccupied with wedding show and couldn't even say sorry. Other staff tried really hard and breakfast was...

I stayed here a few months back and liked it but 11am is too early check for my liking on a Sunday!! I have just gone to book a Room for this weekend (28 Jan) and was surprised that the cost of a late checkout, was £50, more than the cost of a room for another night (room £46)! Shame...

We stopped here en-route back to The Lake District. If you are on the A1 and have the time to spare to have a well cooked meal then this is for you. We had a twenty minute wait for our cooked lunch (we were told this) but when it came it was worth the wait. My husbands beef burger was...

We were given a friendly greeting on reception, checked in without issue, then left to find our own way to the room. We were allocated a traditional room in the original building of the hotel, which we would guess was an upgrade for what we paid, as the hotel was very quiet. The room was spacious and comfortable, with a...
