Myself and my husband booked for a anniversary treat. No treat about it! The room was dark and dreary, due to a tree brushing right up against the window and roof above, making for a very disturbed nights sleep. The hotel was quiet due to it being a Sunday, this was not a problem, however, the staff were clearly not... More

Tired hotel whose claimed star rating should be checked. Bedrooms and bathrooms have long since seen better days. If booking avoid the annex with it's overpowering damp smell. , such a shame Excellent, if disorganised, breakfast. Helpful reception staff. Used it as an overnight stop - big mistake. Lovely quaint old village but you would do a lot better for... More

Great hotel, very welcoming staff and lovely setting. Room was too hot, as hot water pipes ran through the room and couldn't control this. Food was good, stayed here for a wedding and the staff were great.

Use this hotel as an overnight stop when driving North. Great reception by staff and comfortable room overlooking the garden. Restaurant had excellent service and a new style menu had adequate choice. Meal very good and attentive service. Breakfast in morning was busy but ample service. The hotel is ancient and with many old features. Overall it is beginning to... More

Booked to stay as was my friends wedding reception! Only had a double room available but asked if a put up bed could be made up in the room for our daughter! Cost of putting the put you up in room was more than I thought it would be as double room advertised on trivago with breakfast at £74 for... More

We stayed at The Haycock hotel overnight following a party. The architecture of the hotel is beautiful, but sadly it needs a big investment to bring it up to acceptable standards. The room was shabby, bath panel damaged to the point it was dangerous, carpet soiled and generally needed to be upgraded. The staff were friendly but not polished. Manager... More

The setting of the hotel is in an idyllic English village, dating back to the 1670's, peaceful and pleasing to the eye, great for a peaceful rest. The actual hotel - our room was airy and light, the bed was very uncomfortable, as it was worn out, like the windows - the frames were rotted to the core, woke up... More

From the outside this looks like a beautiful, but on closer inspection, the rooms haven't been upgraded in years, there are cobwebs and spiders in every doorway and corner, cracks in the walls and holes in the window frames. We stayed in an 'Executive Suite'. The carpet was soiled, the bathroom was grimy and the sofa hasn't been cleaned in... More
