We held our wedding reception in July 2016 in The Ballroom at The Haycock. Looking back on the whole planning and the actual day itself I wouldn't change a thing. We had so much support from Bryony the wedding co-ordinator, without a doubt a real asset to the hotel every wedding needs someone just like Bryony. On the day of... More

Hotel Reception was very modern and staff were friendly. After our drive from East Sussex we reserved a table to eat in restaurant. We waited almost 10 minutes to be seated, ordered a drink and chose from the very limited, expensive menu. The food was average and for 2 main courses plus a soft drink each cost over £50. Our... Our room was quite nice but a little compact. The small mullioned windows do not let in much air , only one side opens. The bathroom was in the process of being updated, the bath, toilet and basin had been renewed but not the bath shower-mixer taps or the tiles . There was no ventilation in the room so mould... More

Can't recommend this place enough. Great surroundings food was great, even though there was a wedding reception in progress in the ballroom the rest of the hotel ran like clockwork as expected. Great food, lovely people. Village is lovely but a bit close to A1 so with window open in hot summer it's a bit noisy if you are not... More

Stopped at this delightful place for lunch, it was excellent, and Gluten Free no issue, service good food good, and the wine well lets just say Hubby drove home. We sat in the lounge with coffee until, the restaurant was open as it was raining, but plan to go back the village is so quaint , we would love to... More

Stayed here as was at a wedding reception. An expensive overnight stay. The staff were nice and pleasant but just not up to scratch. Bar service throughout the night was slow (1 person serving) and expensive. Breakfast the next morning, staff had to keep being asked to top up the drinks. Food was average. The decor in both the breakfast... More

We stayed here on the 17/18th June, we were quite a big party as we were also having our wedding reception here. Firstly I must say that in our experience all the staff are very friendly, courteous and professional. Our stay here was just lovely. Our room for 2 nights was the honeymoon suite on the first floor and it... More

We stayed here at a favourable rate for a wedding. The staff were pleasant but the room, especially the ensuite was a little dated. The bar prices were high but the breakfast plentiful and tasty. Fabulous little hamlet and location for a wedding with lovely local church

Why did I return for a 3rd visit ?? Other two visits were bad but I thought no third time lucky, especially as they talk of refurbishment. It's still not a great place, the Haycock hotel used to be a magnificent place in the picturesque village of Wansford, it's not anymore.. Who are the managers? They used to have an... More
