We stayed here as a stopover having passed it many times in the middle of the day. The rebuilding/conversions had all been done completely in sympathy with the original building and it retains the feel .of the old coaching inn. Our room, in the older part of the building was well furnished and comfortable, and the downstairs bar was similarly... More

We stayed here whilst going to a friends party. They were very efficient informing us in advance of a wedding party which did not affect us. The lady on reception was very helpful and the room was well appointed and very clean.

yet another Sunday lunch at an atmospheric old coach house on the old A1.A word of warning to anybody with mobility issues if you are booking in the galleried restaurant it is up a fairly steep flight of stairs and no lift (that I could see).Alternatives are the brasserie and the bar and on Sunday about 20 people were eating... We stumbled across the place, as the A1 was blocked and we decided to get off of it. The Bell inn looks lovely from the outside and is equally lovely inside, candles and courtyards. We arrived at 2.45 and were advised we had to order before 3, not a problem. I asked to sample a wine I had not heard... More

We chose to stay here 6 July as my husband's grandmother was born in Stilton in 1894 and we were exploring the area. Her brother used to drink in The Bell Inn. My husband grew up on tales of Dick Turpin visiting here! They have the Dick Turpin room. What a wonderful Inn. We had a garden room and ate... More

Whilst travelling south on the A1 we stopped here for a light dinner. As it was a nice evening we ate in the courtyard. All the staff were friendly and welcoming. Addy had the crab salad and I had the roast peach salad from the specials board - both to be recommended. Good choice of Real Ale.

The Bell Inn has a long history - it used to be a stop-off for the London coaches and was also where the horses were changed for the wagons carrying Stilton cheese southwards. It has large old oak beams and thick walls which add to the ambience of the place. If you go anytime between November and the beginning of... More

My wife and I stopped off for lunch at the Bell hotel in Stilton. We had to have the Ploughmans lunch which came with cheddar and stilton ! What else ! Superb pickles and red cabbage coleslaw.Couldn't fault it. Sue gave us a bit of the history and we were served in the courtyard by Daini. Excellent lunch well done!
