The Bell Inn, historically an important stop on the Great North Road between London and York, is one of the finest surviving examples of a 17th century Coach House. Famous as the Birthplace of Stilton Cheese, this popular inn sits at the heart of the village.Built around the old courtyard our Village bar and Bistro, Galleried Restaurant and Bedrooms have been skilfully blended into the ageless stonework offering old world charm, relaxing comfort and the most modern facilities.

Splendid new vegan menu which suits quite a few in our family now. The menu now presented in such a way that it may be a permanent fixture. Excellent and well thought out choices - very impressive. Always topped with first class friendly service and a couple of beers thank you. .

Dear Jane, Thank you for taking the time to review us and for visiting our hotel. Excellent customer service is our top priority closely followed by some very good food! All the team work really hard to make the Bell truly shine for our guests. I am delighted you enjoyed you time with us and look forward to seeing you again soon. Good Evening, Thank you for your review. I am sorry to hear that you didn’t enjoy your meal. I can honestly say that I really don’t know what happened, we have served hundreds of the turkey main course over December and not received any complaints. I must apologise for this and also the drowning of turkey in gravy and our poor response to your complaint. Please let me know prior to your next visit so that we can improve on your last impress of our food and service. I look forward to hearing from you. Kind Regards, Johanna Grimshaw General Manager
