This island will be too popular down the road. It has a glorious beach and its own airstrip. It was a real pleasure to go here on a Dragoman trip passing through west Africa. The hotel is on the beach, owned by Spaniards. The rooms were rather modestly appointed with two single beds and a lounge chair [no tables]. There are hammocks and other beds to lie on if not enticed into the cool water. The food was very good, lunch and dinner both consisting of three course meals. There are some options off the hotel. Did the trip to the other side of the island [10 euros], stopping in Bruce to see the king. The hotel beach is actually also named Bruce Beach. It is a spot to chill. I just hope the area does not get too over developed.
Amenities quite primitive - but quite sufficient and room very comfortable and clean. No hot water but didn't matter as the weather was perfect. The only draw back for me, an older guest, was the long boat trip to the hotel and the rather uncomfortable hour's transport back to Bubaque - motor cycle with small trailer on the back and very bad road. Would still do it again as everything else was perfect!
Booked Bubaque Island Hotel from back home, telling the exact arrival date and paying 30% deposit in advance. Got to the hotel and no rooms available. The alternative was a prison like damp, dirty room in the back for a hefty 100€ a night. I contacted twice the owner in order to get the deposit back but, although promised by him, never got it refunded. Not serious and professional at all.
This place is absolutely incredible. The beach is stunning with white sand and warm water. Not many tourists in the area what make the place even more special. The staff is amazing and they do everything for you. I totally recommend!
