Detailed Reviews
I went to Thunderbomb with one of my best childhood friends this March...we had the time of our lives, and I think I shed a few tears the morning we left.
March is a great time to go if you're with a group or family of varied skill levels because there is something for everyone to surf...whether you're a beginner heading out for your first few times looking for a calm break or an advanced surfer looking for fast barrels, it's all there. You can rest assured knowing that Germane and Marvin (both awesome guys who grew up in the area and will become your good friends by the time you leave) will load up your boards, take awesome photos of you in the water (if you choose the photo package), and drive you to all the top spots around w/ good conversation, fresh fruit, drinks, and snacks at your disposal. You can even keep all of your belongings with them in the vehicle while you surf (no need to walk on that hot sand either). If you want a few pointers from them, let them know!
Now as far as the experience goes outside of surfing, it was exceptional. Jonathan, Germane, Marvin, and the rest of the staff were excellent hosts who treated us like family during our stay. In addition to surfing, we had the opportunity to hike, dirtbike, jump off some cool trees, and wakesurf in one of the local rivers. On top of all these great things, the residence is kept up impeccably, the rooms are private and air-conditioned, and the meals are amazing (especially Germane's breakfast burritos). Not to mention, you're staying in a beautiful house with uncrowded waves right out-front in one of the purest regions in Nicaragua. The amenities were exceptional and you'll find yourself with everything you need included...the only time you'll take out your wallet is to make the crew whole as you head back to the airport after one of the best trips of a lifetime (let's also not forget that Thunderbomb picks you up and drops you off at the airport too).
I don't think I'll ever stop talking about my trip to Thunberbomb until I go back. Very excited to keep coming back for years to come.

I honestly can't say enough good things about this operation. The house and rooms are impeccable, the meals were huge and high quality, beachfront location w sick sunsets, and short access to some of the best setups in Central America. And I can't stress this part enough... in comparison to every single other surf camp I've been to all around the world, the staff here is the best by a long shot. Definitely heading back.

Just returned to home after a great week at Thunderbomb. The entire experience was top notch and the staff took care of every ask we had, and many that we didn't! The staff was incredible especially the head guide/manager German. The entire staff took incredible care of us, were fun, helpful, and nice as could be. The other guests were awesome as well so it was a huge plus leaving after making a crew of new friends. I also rented boards so I didn't have to deal with the airlines and rode a 6'0 Hypto all week - the rental boards selection was great and covered every possible condition/wave type. I've been all over the world to surf and Thunderbomb has easily been one of the best trips I've taken, we hope to come again soon. If you're considering going - book ASAP as you'll be disappointed you chose to wait!

Easily the best surf camp I’ve been to. Unlike other camps I’ve stayed at they don’t just fob you off to the closest or most convenient place to surf. They genuinely take you to the best place for conditions even if it means driving a while, it’s well worth it! Obviously everyone knows the boom but there are plenty of other options and a lot of days it was mainly just us at thunderbomb surfing a spot. There is also a real fun wave right out front of the house.
The food is amazing and also blows anywhere else I’ve stayed at out the water! All the staff Jonathon, the owner employs are local and can’t do enough to help and are all legends. Also you genuinely won’t open your wallet once while you’re there, everything is sorted from beer to food to trips away if needed. It’s a long trip for me as I’m from the UK but 100% worth it and will definitely be going back.

They do it right. Minimal crowds, maximum stoke 🤙🏼
They are ready to go every morning with food and transportation ready to take you to the best spots in the area. German and Marvin are two of the nicest guys you will meet.

I had an unforgettable experience at Thunderbomb. It is truly the best surf camp I've ever visited, with amazing waves that kept us stoked all day long. The food was delicious and the service was exceptional, with staff who provided 5-star hotel-level care and maintained fantastic rooms. The other guests were super fun and made the stay even more enjoyable. I will definitely be returning!

First time staying at Thunderbomb and I will definitely be going back as soon as I can! Everything about the trip was amazing. From seeing different parts of northern Nicaragua, to the amazing optional adventures to choose from (if you’re surfed out), to the 5-star meals and above and beyond service - I cannot recommend Thunderbomb enough! The highlight of the trip, besides surfing world class waves, was the attention to detail and service provided by the employees. The service was comparable and better to luxury hotels. Just an overall amazing place to be and a very well run surf camp. Pro tip - listen to your guides! They know what spots are best and where you’ll have the most fun!! Lastly, don’t be discouraged when they surf better than you!

We arrived in Managua airport and was instantly met by a representative from thunderbomb surf camp. From that moment on the entire experience was top notch.
The accommodation is super comfortable and the food was excellent. All of the people that work at the camp are some of the nicest people I’ve had the pleasure of meeting. German’s knowledge of all the surf spots was invaluable and the other boys including Victor and Marvin were absolute legends who made sure everyone was constantly having a good time.
I could not recommend this place enough!!

Just got back from my 6th, 2 week experience at thunderbomb surf camp and it just gets better every time! The staff, the house, the food, the service and most importantly the waves are all top notch!
If you want to have the time of your life, laugh and surf your ass off all while crushing an insane amount of world class food and drinking free beers than this is heaven on earth for you!
Stop overthinking it and give yourself a gift that will create memories that last a lifetime!

This is my favorite surf camp hands down. I've been here twice and will continue to come back every year. Rooms are great. Great AC. Wifi. Food is ridiculously amazing and that's not what you'd typically expect at a surf camp so it's a nice bonus. Incredible waves, multiple locations closeby. Beautiful scenery and setting. Staff is incredible and has all turned into life long friendships. If you're on the fence pull the trigger, it's a great time.
