I found this hotel a bit over priced for what you get but the location is very convenient. The walls are very thin. We could hear the people next door's conversation. Room service finishes very early (9 pm) but the bar is opened until 3 am. This might be an ideal hotel if you are looking for a more party atmosphere. The place was clean, staff were very friendly and the chocolates left in the room were delicious. Breakfast was average, not bad but not great.

Appauling, how they have the cheek to charge almost £100 (without breakfast, not that I'd be eating here) for my single occupancy room is a disgrace. Upon booking I asked for a clean and updated room, I was told this was unlikely as they are fully booked. At a guess I'd say this room hasn't been updated since the 1980s. 1 The bathroom is filthy, and stinks, so much so I won't have a shower tomorrow. 1 hour ago (2am) I realised there is hair in my sink, not mind, I'm bald ! 2 There are cobwebs hanging from my ceiling over my bed ! 3 I'm itching and have realised I've been bitten 4 The ceiling coving is falling off 5 The walls are so thin that I now can't sleep due to the couple next door talking. Tomorrow I will write a formal complaint to the hotel, the booking site I used and The Waterford tourist board including the pictures I've taken. Update, this morning I noticed that one towel long hair in the middle once unfolded, the second i tried was filthy with red and black stains. I was so relieved to leave

Dear Mr. McCarthy, I am very disappointed to read your review, you booked online on the day of your arrival and sent a request for an updated room and immediately my front office team responded to you and allocated you a river view room at the front of the hotel. Just to clarify a few points with you - the hotel is only here since 1998 so certainly wasn't around in the 80's.. I agree that the coving in your room needed to be addressed and have discussed with my housekeeping team who have apologised for the inconvenience and it has been repaired. This hotel is a warm, comfortable 3 star property that undergoes rigorous inspections annually from numerous entities in order to trade and we have met and exceeded the criteria set since opening. I wish you would have spoken to a member of my management team who were available during your stay they would have done their very best to fix the issues your were having and in turn allowed you to have a more enjoyable time with us. Our industry is about looking after people, making sure they enjoy their time with us in the hope that they will return, so I hope that you will give us another opportunity to redeem ourselves on a return visit where you will experience our usual high standard of care and attention. Many thanks for taking the time to read my reply and I look forward to meeting you in the future. Kind regards Karen Dollery General Manager

Just spent a fabulous 2 nights at the Waterford Marina Hotel. Beautiful spotlessly clean Hotel, so close to city centre shopping. Room was cosy & warm. Shower was extremely powerful and lots of hot water available. The restaurant was fantastic, as a coeliac I rarely enjoy eating out due to limited options. That was definitely not the case in the Waterford Marina hotel. Susan was the name of the young girl who greeted us on arrival for breakfast, she was a font of knowledge and so friendly and helpful. A definite gem among the hotel staff. There was a vast variety to choose from including gluten free bread, cereals and a full gluten free fry up, sausages, pudding, hash browns etc. All served piping hot. Dinner was another huge success with plenty to choose from, the soup was gorgeous and the beef was melt in the mouth. Dessert was a disappointment though, after being spoiled for choice throughout our stay the dessert option was generic "fruit salad" or "ice cream. Meanwhile my husband had a delectable selection of fudge cake, cheesecake & ice cream in a waffle basket. A small gripe but a nice dessert would literally have been the icing on an otherwise perfect cake. We will definitely be booking the Waterford Marina hotel anytime we stay in Waterford.

I was really impressed with our huge room with a separate living area the hotel is spotless and staff are very accommodating. Although I wasn’t impressed with a €5 room service charge I thought the price of the room was very reasonable considering how big it was. Overall enjoyed our stay
