Was part of a recent week long conference here and was delighted with the hotel staff. They went above and beyond their usual roles and their interest in our activities was much appreciated. Special mention to Dylan, who was really top class.

Visited this hotel for a couple of night over Easter School holidays. The girl on check in was extremely helpful and friendly and the check in was quick and easy. Great first impressions. Unfortunately from here things started to go downhill. The room was dated and grubby with things like the handle coming off the desk etc. There was not enough towels provided for the number of guests. The rooms weren't serviced and we had to phone and request same. We felt the quality of food at breakfast was very poor and didn't find the waiting staff the most friendly. We were made feel as if we were in their way. We arrived in the evening on our first night and so decided to eat in the bar. After being seated we waited nearly 20 mins for someone to come take our order. When they eventually took our order, the waitress came back within a few minutes to advise there was over a 40 minute delay in the kitchen. At this stage we had waited so long we were not going to up and head into the town for food. The following night we went out for food but decided to get a drink when we got back to the hotel but my husband was waiting about 15 minutes to get served at the bar. Overall we were not impressed with this hotel and would not return. Disappointing as we have stayed in a number if Clayton's and dont feel this was on par with their usual standard and do not feel it was worth the money we paid for our stay!

Stayed two nights in a family room. No air conditioning made it impossible for us to sleep and children were v uncomfortable both nights We asked for a fan as window wouldn’t open either The manager was not helpful either as she just told us it’s an old hotel and not much need in Ireland for Air-conditioning.The rest of the staff were very pleasant. Bar food was nice but a little pricey

Stayed here for two nights from Tuesday. Check in was quick and efficient. We had room 2183 which was such a walk from the reception (2mins 40). Room was ok although massive stain on the carpet which was the first thing you noticed and the desk looked very worn. Wasn’t as impressed as I was from a previous stay here however my opinion soon changed when we went to see reception to be moved rooms (husband isn’t very well and the walk was too much) we spoke to Keeley on reception who assured us we wasn’t being a pain and would get us moved straight away even went out her way to find us a room that was ready straight away nothing was too much bother for this girl. We were moved to 3153. Much closer and much nicer room, no stains on carpet, very spacious and nicer furniture. Bar food was lovely and staff friendly. Breakfast had a wide variety of options. Would stay again

Me and my little one, arrived at this beautiful place for the last 3 days of our road trip around Ireland. Check in was fast and efficient, got the feeling the girl was on the pressure even tho there was no one around it the phone ringing. Single mum with my 7 year old. Few bags and no assistance offered. Felt a bit frustrated as it was a bit of a maze to get to the room. Our executive room was very spacious, with all that is required for the 4 star hotel. 5 beds between the two rooms given which was 4 too many. Breakfast was nice but still waiting for the things ordered that weren’t on the buffet. Already home now. The grounds and the facilities were absolutely astonishing. The pool facilities were nice and kiddos friendly. Food in the bar was lovely, smoky staff and very attentive. Check out was fast and efficient but just very formal. I suppose it is such a massive establishment it lacks the extra friendliness. Few smiles but just got the feeling staff were under a lot of pressure. We took ourselves out and enjoyed some more delicious ice cream on the beautiful grounds. Soon into our journey we relished my little forgot her favorite unicorn pillow in the hotel so we returned to get it. This ended up in the most unpleasant experience. Little one was delighted she is getting the pillow back but the staff decided to use the pillow as bait for what was to come. This is now 30 minutes wait since we first arrived and spoke about the left behind pillow. The pillow kept going and front at the front office desk. A lady came out with the pillow eventually to speak to us. Still not offering the pillow back to my little one. Mentioned the room was full of smoke which I denied and assured I do smoke but I haven’t in the room. She left again without giving my little one the pillow while she is watching the whole ordeal beside me. Came back to say that even her pillow smelled of smoke. They decided to come back and apologise after another 5 minutes wait and finally gave the pillow back to my little one. I actually left so embarrassed and with tears in my eyes which I tried to hold for my little one not to see. I will also add that we were Glamping for the first 5 days of our trip, which ment our clothes maybe smelled of smoke too being in nature and eating outdoors with outdoors fires. We decided to come enjoy the facilities of a four star hotel as a treat on the way back home. Such beautiful grounds... the historic building is of a mental hospital home which does bring a bit of sadness about. We did enjoy the in-between check in and check out purely cause we wouldn’t let others spoil our little road trip. It did get the better of me on the way out. We will not return.

Dear Eleguiloulou, Thank you for taking the time to send in your feedback from your recent stay. I am extremely disappointed to read about your experience after check out. I am terribly sorry that when you spoke to one of my colleagues that they did not resolve your grievance as soon as possible. We are very lucky to have such a busy hotel, however this should not effect our service. We should of offered you assistance with your bags on arrival, and you should of received your ordered items from breakfast. For this I apologise. I am glad you enjoyed our spectacular grounds, and great facilities. It is a fabulous building with large spacious rooms as you experienced, maybe have been too big for your needs. Once again my apologies that there were elements of your stay that did not understandably meet your expectations and I hope that we get the opportunity to regain your confidence. Your feedback is extremely important so I thank you for your honesty. Kindest Regards A Murphy
