I've read some reviews about the Southern and some are unfair. It is an old hotel and must have been very impressive in its heyday as a Grand hotel. The decor is old but not shabby. The only meal we had there was the buffet breakfast which was great. My big problem and it is a big one is that...

Sligo Great Southern is in a great location, just beside the railway station and 12 minute walk into the town. Bedrooms, bed and linen, fantastic. Breakfast, lovely buffet selection. Enormous foyer and lounge areas, great for coffee and people watching.

We stayed here for one night as we were attending a function in the hotel. We were offered more favourable rates because of the function. The bed was very comfortable and the room was quite large. The hotel was somewhat old fashioned with high ceilings and elegant decor. There is a large lobby area with a real fire making it...

This hotel is situated beside the bus and rail station which makes it a great location for those travelling by bus or train. the reception and lobby area are very comfortable and old style; the room was standard and clean, we did not eat in the hotel so cannot comment on the food.

Staff: Very nice local staff. Bedroom: Bed was 100% - very comfortable! Couldn’t hear anything from adjoining rooms. But we were at the back. Friends say they could hear machines running all night at a side room near the station. We were in a fine big room the only faults I have were there was no safe in the room...

I paid €135 for a single room for one night without breakfast and so was looking forward to a bit of a treat. It was not to be. As I entered the room, I could feel the chill. I made sure the radiator was fully open as it was just luke warm - it clearly had only just come on....

My husband and I stayed here recently. The foyer looked lovely and on first impressions so did our room. Unfortunately there were some glitches along the way. The barrel of the lock on our door kept slipping ...it took us 5 mins of fiddling with it each time we needed to get back in the room. The bed was 2...

Spent a week at this hotel in September. The room was great, clean and very comfortable. The hotel was two steps from the train & bus station and a five(5) minute walk to the downtown. The pub was very comfortable and the food service was quick and good. Would recommend this hotel to anyone and my wife and I would...

This family owned old royal style hotel is a very cozy and warm place to stay in Sligo with a perfect location right next to the bus station not fahr from the centre. Very nice old style room with a huge bed, stuff very friendly. Be sure to take a bus right opposite the hotel to the Strandhill beach.
