We have just left Arden Accommodation and seem to have a remarkably different experience to other reviewers on TripAdvisor. We arrived yesterday at 4pm and were shown to rooms 2 & 3 by a young man. An interaction of about 3 mins. Straight away we found that room (2) was very cold. It is a very nicely appointed room with quality furnishings and comfortable beds. However it was very cold. The corridor outside was warm, as was the guest lounge area. The radiator in the bay window was on full but luke warm at best (with a dresser in front of it). We thought we’ll give it the benefit of the doubt, maybe it had just been turned on. We went out for a couple of hours and came back at 6pm to get changed for the night. The room was still freezing so I called the number on booking.com and a lady answered. I told her the problem and asked if there was a portable heater we could use. She was very nice and apologised and said it would be sorted out immediately. She told me that she and her husband were away and her son was running the place in their absence. So we left for the night and came back at about midnight. Room was still freezing! Anyway went to bed for an uncomfortable night. Temperature in the morning in the room was 8 degrees. We went for breakfast which was “continental” (see images). There was a plate of ham, some dry scones, croissants in wrappers, some fruit and yoghurts. There was a toaster but no bread. After about 20 minutes the young guy stuck his head round the door and said “anything else I can get you” we said “some bread would be nice, it being breakfast and all” he popped off and brought back some sliced bread. How this gets a 10/10 on TripAdvisor I have no idea! As I have said, the building and furnishings are very nice and everything is spotlessly clean. The reason I have written this is because we clearly had a problem, reported it, were told it would be sorted and then nothing was done, which is annoying and made for an uncomfortable night for us. I’m sure the hosts are lovely and very obliging, just a shame for us that they weren’t there.
