After spending 3 nights in the Savoy I am struggling to understand how it is marketed as 5 Star luxury, there were a few issues during our three night stay; Starting before arrival, the website is not great, no indication there is a Spa and i couldn't find any direct contact info, when I finally got an answer via e mail to reception that there was one in the hotel it was fully booked out, also no indication on the website that the lovely Hamptons restaurant was closed as they are waiting on furniture. The lobby is small and crowded with furniture and has a tiny reception and a very small walkway to access elevators, library and bar,  we were checked in quickly however were given no information on the hotel,  facilities,  times and location of breakfast, I had to ask multiple questions and at this point was told Hamptons restaurant was closed. There is no toilet facilities on this floor where the bar and dining area called the Library is located, you have to go to the first floor. The hotel has a beautiful conference/banqueting area on the first floor its a pity it isn't used more. The Bedroom was so disappointing and tired looking, kettle was filthy with white finger marks all over the handle, the air vent in bathroom was loose, spinning and noisy( we needed to call reception to fix that), ceiling lights in the bathroom have silver paint/tape cracked or coming off and one blinks intermittently, tile cracked near shower, stains on ceiling by the vent .The view is horrible looking onto an alleyway and backs of building (we stayed on the third floor.) There is no light by the main door were the wardrobe is, so it is very dark ( there is however a strip light that turns on if you open the press) Dinner on the first night was nice, service was slow, especially for drinks. We asked to charge bill to room, signed for it and left. Back in the room I was phoned to come back down and pay our bill that there was no card taken at check in to charge to room( we were never asked to provide one) but also told at checkout they didn't want people waiting in queues to settle bills( fair enough in Covid times), however when I came down I had to wait in a queue to pay the bill. The staff member I dealt with was very apologetic. Breakfast is nice, good choice and staff are professional and friendly. Went to the bar for a drink one day, ordered quick enough , however waited about 15mins to get two drinks and there was only 7/8 people in there, the bartender went missing for several minutes after taking the order. On the second night people were roaring and singing on the third floor (approx 2am)for a good hour before staff knocked on their door to tell them to stop making noise, I understand the noise is not the hotels fault but they should have dealt with it sooner. I can overlook the fact the hotel was only reopened a few days and there can be teething problems and any issues we highlighted were addressed and staff were apologetic, however some of them were avoidable in the first place, especially the items I highlighted above about the room. It is not 5 star luxury and the bedroom needs a serious makeover/ modernising.

I originally booked in January to stay in may 2021, obviously with Covid now we are unable to leave the county so I rang today to reschedule, the lady was not helpful or nice at all I explained why I needed to reschedule and she huffed and asked what new dates I wanted while also telling me that all bookings for May had be cancelled anyways(which I had not even been notified of) then when I selected my dates (3 weeks after the original date) I was told they could not honour my original rates and I would have to pay almost double the amount to stay. This is an absolute joke there was nothing in the fine print or cancellation policy on changing rates and the re- scheduling we completely out of my control ,I would stay in MAY if I was allowed travel. She was extremely unhelpful and told me I had booked a"black Friday deal" I informed her I had not that I had booked January to which she had no reply. This is supposed to be a 5 star hotel and I booked for a special occasion for a 30th for someone who was very sick with Covid for their original birthday and the way I was treated was not 5 star service. I will be cancelling and giving the money and business to a hotel that appreciates customers and the struggle that people have had the last year. Very disappointed as we were looking forward to staying

Stayed in a junior suite which didn't disappoint, fabulous decor, sumptuous bedding & a bathroom to die for. Had our lunch in the Hotel bar, nice selection of food and a cocktail menu that didn't disappoint. Breakfast was exceptional & served by professional staff that were eager to please at every opportunity. Dinner in Hamptons restaurant was fabulous, the variety and value for money was incredible. Overall a wonderful stay & relaxed atmosphere that would be hard to fault. Looking forward to staying again. Staff deserve acknowledgement for commitment to adherence to government guidelines in these strange times👏👏

We booked a table in the Savoy, from the beginning of the night to the end we were made feel so welcome by one particular member of staff, Jessica. She was so bubbly and friendly, she made the night for us and we will most certainly return.
