We stayed here for just one the night and set off at the crack of dawn to make the ferry, so we can't account for certain amenities like breakfast etc. Having said that, they were so accommodating and concerned that we wouldn't go without and couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful. The house is absolutely beautiful and you can really imagine it in all its stately glory! The room was cosy and comfortable and had everything we needed: tea, coffee, water, hot shower, comfy beds etc. Would definitely recommend - very short distance to the centre of town as well.
Allen was a wonderful host, made us feel very welcome and the room was perfect. An excellent example of an old house with lots of character but all the modern amenities .. just perfect for us. Breakfast was delicious with a choice of whatever you wanted. Would recommend to anyone. We experienced true Irish charm.
We decided to wait to do reviews of our “all over Ireland” trip, to allow the most memorable moments stick out. Sad how much of the trip’s memories started to fade. Of the 9 places we stayed at, 2 stood out FAR above the others. Glendine House and it’s sole proprietor Allan was one of them. What a Lovely and charming Man, with an equally charming home. It’s amazed us that he does it all. His breakfast was the BEST we had in Ireland, he keeps a clean and comfortable home, and was Soooo delightful to talk to. Our only complaint was that we couldn’t have stayed longer. One thing is for sure... he could teach some of the other hosts we stayed with a thing or two on how to properly run a B&B. We cannot recommend Allan enough. Thank you for the stay, and for being one of the Memories we held on to.…
We stayed here for only 1 night so in all fairness I have to rate it according to our stay as opposed to what I think it might be if it is fully functioning --> during our stay there was a power outage shortly after we arrived, which continued throughout the night, and was still out when we left the next morning - so no shower, no lighting/electricity after dusk or in the morning, and no hot breakfast. But despite the power outage which was no fault of the B&B host, Allan did everything he could to make our stay as pleasant as possible...and he succeeded! He was very friendly, helpful and so kind to us! This B&B is situated in a great location. It is set back from the road and in the centre of a mix of farmland and residential homes, so is very quiet and peaceful. There is a good pub nearby for dinner or if you have more time the B&B is only a 30 minute, lovely walk into town. Our room with ensuite was very spacious, bright, and comfortable...and well laid out. The continental breakfast was varied, enjoyable and delicious. We would definitely stay here again if the opportunity arose.…
This B&B is conveniently located just outside Kilkenny, which makes it easy to drive around. It is located in a residential area; yet, the long driveway, surrounded by cows and horses, makes it feel like you are in the country. Our host, Alan, was very friendly, even provided my mother bread to feed to the horses and cows. The house is older and has a great deal of charm - If asked, Alan will discuss the history of the home and the property. The rooms are a bit uncomfortable, with warn-out bedding.
