Formerly and 'gentleman's club' back in the days, the hotel has kept the character, architecture, and ambiance alive!! The ornate bar is the original bar from 240 years ago! Staying here is like stepping back in time! Loved it! Get the local beer on tap. It is no longer Smithwick's but the bartender will tell you which one it is.... More

Quaint, Quirky and full of character this hotel with all it's nooks and crannies it a delight with something to look at around every corner. You couldn't be placed in a more central location to explore all the delights Kilkenny has to offer. I know I speak for every member of my extended family we will not stay anywhere else... More

Selena rocks! Hope I spelled that correctly, wonderful night. Nice to see a really homely place. Nice venue and lovely new bar, the staff are good people. I think I need to add a few more words to make it 200.

We stayed here in early September and found our room to be a good size and newly decorated with very comfortable beds. It had good services with plenty of fresh towels, tea / coffee services a hair dryer and TV with saor view. The staff were brilliant, very friendly and helpful. The location couldn't be better and to be honest... More

We got a deal for this hotel that included dinner and breakfast. Dinner was good, breakfast was superb as was the location of the hotel. However the room we were in had such a foul odour of urine that I slept with a pillow over my face. Wifi was hit and miss in our room too. It was fairly clean.... More

Worst hotel I ever saw, the first room that they gave us as mold on the ceiling and so much moisture in the air that I have breathing issues. The second room was ok until I want to take a shower, the bathroom was not clean (there was hair in the bath that was not mine) and the plastic shower... More

I was very surprised when I entered the hotel. From the outside it doesn't look great but on entering it has a charm of its own. It's not modern but lovely and cosy. The staff are very friendly and the food is good too. Clean room, linen changed daily tea and coffee making facilities. Most enjoyable. Central location.

My husband and I stayed here for one night in August. I would recommend this hotel to young couples/hens/stags. It's central location is ideal as it is close to all that Kilkenny has to offer. The hotel itself is dated and rooms are basic but adequate.

Recently stayed here for a stags weekend booked via Stagit. First impressions was that the hotel was old and dilapidated. It hadn`t been painted or decorated in years. The staff were ignorant and rude. My friend jokingly asked the receptionist were the swimming pool was and her reply was that he can swim in the river if he wants. The... More

I was in town for 6 nights for the arts festival.I stayed last year just outside the town centre and it was too much trouble walking back and forward all day long.I checked out a number of the central hotels last year looking for a quiet place that was NOT attached to a pub with drunks wandering around most of...
