just stay there if you are planning to party all night anyway, because you will not be able to sleep until the party in the pub is over. Otherwise the hotel was pretty good and comfortable, also the localtion is very good, if you want to enjoy nightlife

This is not a hotel. It is a small assortment of dubiously decorated rooms (displaying framed movie star photos and excessive dust) over a riotously loud bar which inexplicably draws numerous patrons who relish belting out the lyrics to Journey, the Cranberries, Oasis…whatever. No song is too dated, no bass line is too thumping, no joy is to be had from this poor traveller, who has been listening to this nonsense three hours already, and anticipating—with faint hope—that the caterwauling will end in three more hours at 2am, as promised (although other reviews and even staff members consider this doubtful). I hate this place. I am two floors above that bar, and I can feel the vibrations of the music. One may as well seek a night’s rest by sneaking into the coat room at a nightclub… at least then you would pay less, and may well be better able to drown out the insufferable noise by burrowing under a pile of jackets. Do not stay here. The staff member who fielded my complaints about the noise was kind and polite but powerless. After I complained twice—and was told these complaints would be carried to the DJ— later songs began with the DJ exhorting crowd to sing along and stomp their feet. So, he may have adjusted the sound system a bit lower or not, but he intentionally caused the crowd to be even more raucous. Whoever operates this place just wants to cater to the locals who frequent the bar, at the expense of and without care for those unlucky enough to book a room here. Anyone who stays here will have no kind words for Galway when they get home.

Dear Guest, My sincere apologies that you didn't have a nice time while staying with us and you were kept awake by the noise. We do clearly state on our website that we are in a lively part of town and the hotel isn't for everyone but I understand how frustrating this can still be. The majority of our guests do tend to have a lovely time and are happy with everything and I can guarantee definitely are not regulars / locals as most of our guests are international I do hope that either way it won't deter you from coming to Galway again and embracing the lovely things it has to offer If you would like to discuss anything further please email me to erin@theresidencehotel.ie Warm Regards Erin

The location is great in the Latin section of Galway, but unless you want to party until after 2 AM, don't stay above the bar. Our room was on the 1st floor right above the bar. Since my husband and I wanted to go to sleep by 11 PM, we had a miserable night, but if you are one of those who wants to be in the bar with the band until after 2 AM, it would be great. The rooms are very nice and the beds are comfortable.

HI Susan, Thank you for your review, and I'm glad you enjoyed our rooms - being on such a busy street it can tend to be very noisy which we do state on our website. If you ever decide to come back again please get in touch directly and I will ensure you to put you in one of our quieter rooms at the back of the hotel. I hope you still enjoyed your time in Galway and that we will see you again Warm Regards Erin

This is a good hotel - attractive rooms, comfortable (but short) beds and pillows, friendly staff, and good location. The issue - a big one - was noise. On Saturday and Sunday it came from the street - 1-2am. On Monday the street was reasonable, but we could hear the TV next door until 3am. The fan in the room was a good source of white noise (and temperature as it was stuffy) but not enough for a good night's sleep. So be informed if you stay here, particularly on a weekend facing the street.

HI Mark, Thank you very much for the feedback, genuinely it is appreciated. It was unfortunate about the TV next door which normally wouldn't be an issue - hopefully this wouldn't deter you from staying with us again. Please get in touch if it is something you would be interested in and I'll ensure to put you into one of our quieter rooms Warm Regards Erin

My family had two rooms for three nights, August 5, 6 & 7. There is a note on their website stating that it may get noisy as they are connected to a bar/restaurant. Heed this warning! I booked anyway because I was thinking it would be loud until even 1 am and we would be out anyway. It was 4:00 a.m two nights in a row until it settled down. There was pounding music and literally screaming. Crazy!! Sunday night we were assured that there would be no DJ, but only one person singing and only until 11:00. We were ready to have some sleep that night....until they began moving furniture at midnight!! I asked the next morning about it and evidently they move the furniture from the restaurant to the bar or the opposite once the music stops. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? This is not right. It is a huge conflict. You cannot be a hotel and a bar. You SHOULD NOT treat people like this!! They should be ashamed.

Dear Guest, I'm genuinely very sorry to hear you had such a bad experience with the noise outside of the hotel on your first night. Being in The Latin Quarter and depending in which room you are in, it can be noisy on the street. I have never had a complaint about the furniture issue on a Sunday night so I will look into this more as it shouldn't affect peoples sleep. I hope this doesn't deter you from returning to Galway and enjoying the many things the city has to offer and if you ever would consider staying with us again please get in touch directly and I'll ensure you a quieter room and hopefully a lovely stay Warm Regards Erin

Everyone was so friendly when we checked in and the gave us great recommendations. We didn’t spend much time in the hotel but it was lovely. Like most of Ireland, they didn’t have AC but had a couple fans that were very helpful!
