I had a booking here for the 29th of June 2020. Due to it being the first day of the restrictions being eased here in Ireland and my fiancée being in the vulnerable category we contacted Sheldon Park Hotel asking could we change the date or get a voucher. We wanted to stay again just not at this time with all that was going on but the hotel refused to change and the lady was extremely rude on the phone so we had no choice but to leave the room go to waste after paying. I thought some leeway might have been possible during a global pandemic. I guess not. Will not be booking here again.

Booked in here for a night with friends, as we were due to attend a concert, unfortunately due to covid19 the concert was rescheduled until next year.. we had booked through a third party and were basically told to F**k off by a very rude hotel staff member on the phone. They would not help in any way, blaming the third party and stating it wasn't their issue, however when we contacted the third party they said the hotel would not let them change the booking or issue a voucher or anything.. we were happy to rearrange the dates but had absolutely no help from the hotel whatsoever, they were not willing to accommodate us or listen to reason, given that we were not aloud to travel outside of our county because of covid 19 they still did not care and incouraged us to break the law and attend the hotel anyway.. an absolute joke of a hotel, incredibly rude staff..

This was a great base for 8 of us to spend some time in Dublin. The team were very friendly and helpful right from the first day when they allowed us to check in early. As other have said its a quick walk to the tram, which we used a lot with our 7 day travel card, and about 20-30 mins to the town centre depending on where you are going. Breakfasts were good and even had vegetarian sausages and Soya milk for myself as a vegan. We had a couple of evening meals which were reasonable but nothing to ring home about, drinks and there was live music on each weekend evening. Rooms were clean and warm, all adequate if not a little dated. No great views due to location but that wasn't important to us. Visited the fitness centre you use the gym, only issue was having to go outside to get there. Towels were provided. Booked many months in advance so had a great rate which included breakfast. But if you don't have this then there is a McDonald's and Costa very nearby with also a petrol station shop opposite. overall a good value enjoyable trip.

My experience with Sheldon Park Hotel turned out to be annoying all the way from reservation. I contacted them directly, but their reservations staff does not seem to work on Sundays, and they offered me the same price as on Booking.com or Ryanair Rooms. Location is not great. It's pretty far out from the centre, so it's a bit of a trip to get into the heart of Dublin (assuming that the buses and/or LUAS actually work), and you probably won't have the time to go back to leave your shopping or rest. You don't have much choice of restaurants in the area, and the LUAS red line that gets you there is rife with junkies and other troublemakers. The room itself is quite comfortable, but many things are super annoying. For instance, to turn on one of the bedside lamps, your hand has to go through it since the switch is on the other side. There is no towel rail next to the sink; you have to go to the far end of the bathroom (there was ample space to put a rail had they thought about it). There's no way to keep the bathroom door ajar, since if it's not closed, it will automatically open fully. And what can we say about the ever-so-annoying separate taps for hot and cold water, making you decide whether to burn or freeze your hands? They're still prevalent across Ireland in 2020, and you'll find them here as well. I'm not sure who designs these rooms, but I expected a lot better for the price I paid. I'm also not so sure about the cleanliness of this place. A portion of the carpet felt sticky, and in another part, next to the legs of the desk unit, there was a 20c coin that was there when I arrived and was still there when I left. There is also quite a bit of light pollution at night coming from faraway artificial lights pointed right at the hotel, so you'll need to use the curtains as best you can to block it if you want to get some proper sleep.

Stayed here for one night, I had large room with 3 beds in my room big family size. The style is sort of dated colonial grand. Of the 3 beds mine must have been broken very uncomfortable sleep. The room Wi-fi wasn’t great low number of bars it was free. But I need high data rate for work and it struggled. In my room I had a lot of lights 6 all switched on and off separately no master switch. Small bathroom old fashioned with a toilet that didn’t flush properly. Carpet had seen better days though it looked cleanish.. The hotel is dark and dingy especially In The bar my colleague and I with glasses had a hard time to read menus etc. The food wasn’t bad steak on hot stone but veggies was only fried onions and a mushroom..
