Beresford Hotel

Beresford Hotel

The Beresford Hotel sits at a prime, central location that guests love for its proximity to attractions and public transport, though it comes with the trade-off of noise and higher rates. While the staff is commended for their friendliness, and the hotel for its cleanliness and satisfying breakfast, travelers often find the rooms dated, lacking in modern comforts, and not as quiet as desired. Opinions on value are mixed, with some citing the hotel as overpriced, particularly due to the dated amenities and unexpected additional charges.

I recently returned from my stay at the Beresford Hotel in Dublin. The rates are reasonable and if you forego a car while in the city the location is centrally located by the train and bus station. It was just a short walk to Oconnell street. The best thing about the hotel is the staff especially Dayse She helped me with my luggage when I checked in and assisted me when I was unable to reach my car rental agency when I was leaving. Mr. Rob has a wonderful front desk staff. I also took the breakfast package and again the staff was great. The hotel also has a restaurant I had the Carbonara it was a large and delicious meal.

Booked a twin room via booking.com based on the room photos on that website. Checked in lon June 7th and was given a room that in no way resembled those pictures. If felt like bad student/backpacker accommodation from the 1980's. It was dark and depressing, and oppressively stuffy to the point where my daughter and I had to sit in the room with our door wide open just to get some air. Not very safe.

The decor was terribly outdated, the small windows opened (barely) out on to what I think was an air conditioning unit (couldn't see out of the windows properly as they were frosted) and the bathroom was only just passable. No proper wardrobe, just a small alcove in the wall.

I complained to the staff at the front desk and was told they would be able to move us to a better room the next morning and was told to come down to reception at 8am. By 12pm they were able to move us to something which was still quite dated and not really matching the photographs, but at least resembled an actual hotel room, and was a million times better than the glorified broom closet they gave us initially.

So it was good that the staff reacted to my concerns and provided a solution. However for the money we paid (almost AUD $400/night) to have put us in that room initially was disgraceful and absolutely not acceptable. That particular room (room 117) and any others like it should not be provided to people who book according to the photos shown on booking.com. This is plainly false advertising. Those particular rooms should be provided at a reduced rate provided that accurate images are shown on the relevant booking sites so that people are aware of what they are actually getting.

Beware when booking this hotel, I would certainly not return.

Upon arrival, which was 11am, they accommodated us with 1 room which was ‘the only 1 ready’ but it was right next to the train tracks so we said we would be happy to wait until 2pm. They then ‘found’ another room which was nicer and on the front of the building which we accepted. Rooms are very tidy, beds are comfy. Rooms are hot due to no air con but there was an electric fan in the room to use.
Shower was a bit skew-wiff and had to lean in towards the wall to wash my hair LOL but overall very clean
The breakfast area was beautiful, and the food did not disappoint. 1 day we had an early excursion and they made up 2 takeaways for us, with sandwich, drink, fruit & muffins which was lovely.
The restaurant, we ended up eating in 3 times, the food was amazing. We had the steak sandwich, carbonara and fish & chips all of which were very tasty.
Downsides are - close to trains, trams and bus station so a little noisy at times. And also seems to be a gathering place in the square for the homeless who can get a little lively but never any trouble

Lovely stay! The hotel is pretty close to the centre so if you don't want to struggle with reaching the very heart of the city every day, this is perfect for you. Might sound weird but, I was honestly surprised when, while walking through the halls to reach my room, I could smell a lovely scent in every single one of them. I've been in plenty of hotels my whole life and most of the time...hotels smell like hotels, right? Not pleasant, nor unpleasant but you certainly don't feel at home, which makes sense. Well. Not this one. This one has a lovely scent all the time, and my room has always been deeply cleaned and left wonderfully welcoming. I was always satisfied with it. Gave also a try at the restaurant during one rainy night in Dublin and it wasn't disappointing at all. The staff is also lovely and very professional, they always make sure to help you or make sure that everything is going well. I've been patiently helped by Deyse and Lucas many times, big thanks to them for making this trip special. Sad to go home. Thank you, see you next time!

Where do I start with this review!! If I could have given a half star I would have. This was our first time at the Beresford but it'll certainly be our last! It's situated in the heart of the city but its convenient location is mired by the endless noise of the Luas , Dart trains and a very busy Bus Aras station. Our room was to the front of the hotel and the windows which did not fully close did little to keep the noise out, from approximately 5.30am til late! The room was dated, the bathroom shabby and the room had the creakiest floors Ive ever heard. Not even a complimentary bottle of water was supplied which was hard to believe for the price we paid . Staff were efficient but very unhelpful when it came to asking for recommendations for local restaurants or bars. The hotel bar had closed early and we could not even get a drink to bring up to our room. We didn't eat here so can't comment on that. In conclusion we would not recommend the Beresford hotel if you want a peaceful stay in Dublin City.

Had a great stay at this hotel, so close to the city centre and a nearby tram/bus stop. All the people who work there made sure we had the best experience (especially Nelson who kindly helped us store our luggage after we had checken out) The room we received was really spacious and neat. We booked breakfast afterwards and we definitely recommend it, eveything tasted great and they had really good gluten free options as well <3

We stayed at the Beresford Hotel from 13th to 17th January, a group of 10 people, 5 rooms for two.
The hotel is very clean and is located in the center of Dublin, a stone's throw from everything, both the main attractions and the central/metro station.
The room was cleaned every day with a change of towels, even though the bathrooms are not the most modern they work very well, and the hot shower, especially in these periods, is the best!
Above all, what made this experience unique was meeting Robert!
Robert, who you will find at reception, was invaluable in our trip, he advised us where to eat, what to visit and which tour to take to see the coasts of Northern Ireland.
Every piece of advice was gold, he didn't make a single mistake, it was certainly the extra edge that the Beresford Hotel offered us.
In short, I strongly recommend this hotel, for quality, price and friendliness of those who work there.

We love you Roby, see you at my Marriage in Naples

Do Not I repeat Do Not use this hotel. I’m honestly not one for writing reviews and normally easily pleased and happy to bite my lip about small issues with places which can be expected but this place takes the complete biscuit. From check in I was informed that payment had been taken before we arrived from my card even though I had picked the option of pay at the property, after check in we took the escalator to the top floor which I honestly thought was about to free fall it was doing so much jumping. When we got to the room it was nothing like advertised, small run down looked as if it hadn’t been touched since the 70s. The noise from the passing trains, luas and bus stop was deafening and after several attempts to close the three windows I gave up as it wasn’t possible they were so old and damaged. Now for the best part, after check out I received a notification that an additional payment of 150 euro was taken from my card on top of the 350!! Euro for one night, immediately I tried to contact the hotel and after 4 attempts 16 hours later I finally was told to my shock that we had damaged the mattress in the room, after asking for proof I was sent a photo of a old coffee stained mattress than appeared the damage was on the underside behind the headboard and under the undamaged mattress topper. You wouldn’t have found this stain unless you knew it was there!! The best part of all is my or my wife are not coffee drinkers and we had not touched anything in the room as we had eaten out on our way back from the concert, so after several attempts to prove it was us that done this I got a reply of basically tough look and thanks for your money. For anyone that thinks about staying here for your own sake there are several other hotels close by that would deserve your business and give you a honest service.

I stayed at The Beresford for 10 days and found it to be a gem of a hotel. My room was spacious and had a lovely view. Great location, I walked the city from there. The staff was friendly and helpful and always smiling. The bed was very comfortable and the bed linens always crisp and fresh, bathroom spotless with a great shower, towels thick and fluffy. A special thanks to Robert for booking me the most beautiful room and to all the front desk staff for making sure I knew how to get to my destination every day. Thanks also to the amazing chef Trish and to Daniel, who made me feel comfortable as a solo traveler. Thank you all so much I will never forget my stay at The Beresford Hotel Dublin.

Absolute ideal location, Dublin express airport bus service pick up and drop off close by. Bus and tram station just across from the hotel. As close to the city centre as you would ever need to be while being in a quiet, safe area. Hotel staff were super friendly and helpful. Deyse on reception was especially welcoming and helped us with any queries about transport and things to do in the area. We were able to store our bags safely after checkout and collect before getting the bus service to the airport. Room was very comfortable and clean, 100% would recommend and will be coming back next time we visit Dublin.

Temple bar area is a 20 minute walk over the river. Lovely local independent businesses near to the hotel, definitely recommend getting coffee at ‘Laine My Love’ and an evening meal at ‘The Celt’ they had a traditional Irish duo performing, food was gorgeous and very reasonably priced.

Yes, there is, but they are anchored to the inside drawer of the desk in the room and a bit awkward to use. You cannot unplug them and move it either. So if you are really tall they won't work for you. I learned the hard way.
