The world famous Shelbourne Hotel is a timeless landmark in the heart of Dublin. Located only 9km from Dublin Airport, The Shelbourne overlooks the magnificent St. Stephen’s Green, and is just seconds from the city’s sights and shops, commerce and culture. But the connection to Ireland’s capital runs far deeper than location. Founded in 1824, The Shelbourne, a Renaissance Hotel is a place where history has been made – the Irish Constitution was drafted, literary masterpieces were penned and society was shaped. Today, as part of the worldwide Renaissance brand, the hotel has been dramatically restored to its full original splendour. Each of the 265 bedrooms are unique, but they all share a sense of charm, style and above all quality…100% Egyptian cotton bedding by Rivolta Carmignani, elegant marble bathrooms with luxury amenities, flat-screen televisions, high speed internet access and climate control. The Shelbourne has 19 beautifully appointed suites, 12 of which are named after famous guests who have stayed at the hotel, such as Princess Grace, John F. Kennedy and Michael Collins and Eamonn De Valera. At the very heart of Dublin’s very best times for almost 200 years, The Shelbourne continues to be the city’s favourite hotel for fine food and drinks in an incomparable environment for generations of Dubliners. The Shelbourne offers a superb choice of dining venues; The Saddle Room, a modern steak and seafood restaurant, The Lord Mayor’s Lounge which serves Dublin’s only true afternoon tea, the renowned Horseshoe Bar and No. 27 Bar & Lounge, the place to see and be seen in Dublin! The hotel features a luxurious Spa offering six treatment rooms, including a suite for two people to share their spa experience together, a manicure and pedicure area as well as an opulent relaxation room. A 17.5m swimming pool, thermal facilities, dance studio and state-of-the-art gymnasium complete the facilities.

This year I decided to go on a 10 city tour for my Christmas holidays and ending up in Hawaii for New Year’s Eve with front row seats to see Bill Maher I give this hotel on my first stop of my 10 city world-wide Christmas tour 4 stars with a possibility of 5 stars. I’d like

We stayed In the JFK suite, and it was incredible. From the minute you walk into the hotel you are treated like a guest of honor. We enjoyed checking out all the history and old pictures in the hotel. The staff was very attentive and helpful.

Before unpacking I decided to have a cup of tea only to discover I had a choice of coffee or herbal tea. I rang housekeeping who delivered some breakfast tea. Next to the bathroom preparing for my night out, lacking toiletries, no razor/shaving cream, no toothbrush/toothpaste,

Nice looking window hardware, except it should be tightened down so you could actually use them to lock the windows.
I knew I should have brought my iPhone 4! Darn. I haven't seen one of these for years. The current models have the lightning jack or a transition jack.Sadly not useful unless you can sort out how to program the radio (no one else apparently had).
If you want room ventilation rather than intense heat, or if you sleep better in a cool room, this is what you might expect.
The hand attachment is a nice touch. Shame the valves don't open that it might work.
When will the renovations in the lobby be completed?
Was in hotel at Christmas everything was ok . Email hotel.

I really don't think the Shelbourne is worth dropping in on, especially currently with the ground floor being under renovation for a couple months. Definitely agree with "it's just a hotel." Not worth "visiting/"

The restoration began just AFTER New Years and is "planned" for three months (we know how plans can change.) So you need to hear from someone who's there now. My strong guess, given how well-managed the hotel is, there will be little impact, with the possible exception of someone coming in from the U.S. and hoping to sleep as soon as they get into their room. In that case, I would try very hard to get a relatively high floor room to be sure not to be disturbed. Of course, you'll still hear street/alley noise. Dublin is not a city know for being quiet.

Do you have to pay for the mini fridge ?
I believe everything carries a charge. They billed me for something but I protested since I hadn't used anything and they took the charge off the bill.

"Rooms facing the office buildings are quieter, but the view is dull as imaginable."
"Check everything with the bellman present before agreeing to the room."
"for a real view, avoid the 6th floor"
"bigger rooms for invalids, we got 2 out of 3 couples"
"Higher floors offer park view rooms - a premium would be payable"
