before management replies with a "you should have checked our website", i checked into the clarence knowing that there would be noise. at check in, i asked for the quietest room possible, even if it meant paying more. the man checking us in simply said "this room will be fine". at 2AM i couldn't tolerate the drunken chants and noise... If you are going in the winter and it is very cold outside, you may enjoy this moderately priced hotel in an incredibly great location. If it is the temperature is over 50 degrees F, the rooms are uncomfortably warm. You can crack open two tiny parts of the double hung windows and then you face VERY loud street noise.... More

The hotel is nicely centrally located, and it's nice looking.... but there is no air conditioning, which is fine since its Ireland and all, but the room got very stuffy. You can crack open the windows, which would have been nice if it weren't for the pub directly below the window that had people at it until 3/4am every day... More

We were staying overnight en route to a wedding in Dundalk. Having driven from Birmingham via Wales, we were looking forward to a restful overnight stay. We were not disappointed! We were greeted by cheery Staff and shown to a beautiful suite of rooms, overlooking the river. Our Daughter and her partner had an amazing studio with a rooftop terrace.... More

Great location and friendly staff but disappointing rooms and services. Upon arrival we were told that wifi worked throughout the hotel without a password yet we could not get a good signal in our room on the second floor. Rooms were clean yet incredibly small, bed was old and springy and there were only two towels in the bathroom. Shampoo,... More

We've stayed a number of times at the Clarence- great room, outstanding service and value, unbeatable location. Out the front door- the Liffey; out the back door- the Temple Bar area. A few blocks away, Trinity College and Grafton street. What are you waiting for?

The Clarence is a beautiful hotel situated on the edge of Temple Bar fronting on to the quays in the city centre. It is a stroll to great pubs and restaurants. The hotel is very stylish, clean and modern. The rooms are large and very comfortable. I would recommend a stay in this hotel which is owned by the band... More

Spent two days at The Clarence getting to know Dublin. The hotel was in walking distances of about everything and James at the front desk was great getting us in to a beautiful river view room and pointed us in the right direction to go exploring.

I know Bono is into rock n roll but I'm fairly certain when he invested in this hotel he was aiming for guests to get some sleep. Be warned, music from the bar next door will keep you awake -- for us it was well after 2 AM on a Tuesday night. And this noise was well above the typical... More

Arrived late but temple bar is always going. Hotel is very nice, and my room looking at the river was amazing. For the hotel location, room was very quiet. I can imagine if you're on floor 2 it might get noisy. Breakfast was top notch.m -full Irish. Will stay again.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Clarence boasts fifty bedrooms and suites, along with our world famous Penthouse Suite. Our rooms range from Classic through Deluxe and on to our River View and Garden Terrace Suites. Our furnishings are simple: classic Shaker oak, beds dressed in cool white linen, sitting elegantly in contrast to a palate of vibrant cardinal colours, rich drapes and luxe carpets. We aim to provide all the simple needs of our guests and we offer 'round the clock room service and all rooms have complimentary WiFi as standard. Our city centre location means car space is at a premium, but we do have a small underground car park that can be reserved for a small nightly supplement. It is also worth noting that our location does mean that the area can be lively at night, especially at the weekends and while we have taken every effort to reduce noise, it is not possible to block it all out. Please do consider this before booking. Within the hotel complex there are many drinking and dining experiences, from the chilled out bliss of The Study to the super stylish Octagon Bar, the perfect spot for an afternoon cocktail or a laid back nightcap. We also have Michelin star chef Oliver Dunne's Cleaver East restaurant within our walls and we are very proud that Oliver and his team provide all catering at the hotel, so whether it's a late night bite in your room or a Full Irish breakfast the next morning, you know your food will be of the highest standard, made from the freshest produce, closely cared for by Michelin starred hands. In the bowels of our building you will find the luxurious cocktail and food bar The Liquor Rooms, home to Dublin's arts set and the first ROI bar ever to be nominated in the prestigious Tales of the Cocktail Spirited Awards. On our first floor, overlooking the River Liffey lies The Cleaver East Suite at The Clarence, which can be reserved for special occasions, from large weddings to intimate business meetings. ... more   less
