Multiple issues including unfriendly staff, A/C not working, dirty and unsanitary rooms…..when we finally got our room at 3pm plus we discovered our room was super hot but given the large windows and the sun coming through them we figured the A/C just needed to be turned and allowed to cool the room down, when we returned from exploring the city some 4 plus hours later the room was still very hot. I called down and the manager came up and agreed the A/C was not working but he had not maintenance team to look at it or possibly repair, he told us the hotel was completely booked and had not other rooms to book us into (we were in a junior suite and spend a great deal of money at this hotel) he offered us fans and told us to sleep with the door open….unacceptable! After an hour I was through and ready to check out and go somewhere else, when I went to the front desk and told the girl of my plans she said she would move me to another room, when I asked how (because the manager said he was fully booked) she was expecting no shows. The did move us to a smaller room but when we turned down the bed sheets we found many pubic & bodily hairs in the sheets…disgusting and unsanitary. Again the manager came to our room (Now close to 10pm) and witnessed our situation. He and another person came in with gloves on and stripped down our bed and replaced with new sheets and only but a new cover on the main blanket (but at this point we were exhausted). He did offer drinks but no amount of drinks could take care of our issues. I think its also important to note that I have only mentioned the two major issues but the two rooms were also not properly cleaned, end tables not wiped down, carpets dirty, walls filthy, etc…. I will not ever return to this location nor would I ever recommend it to anyone…
This was my third time staying here and as usual it didn’t disappoint. Our receptionist that checked us in wasn’t the friendliest and we had a hard time getting information from her however when we went back later that day and enquired about breakfast etc, the next receptionist we got was faultless and explained things properly, she’s perfect for the job. Rooms were beautiful, clean, quiet and the vending machines on our floor proved useful when we came home late from a concert. Breakfast was absolutely faultless and everything was fresh and well cooked, the gentleman that seated us is a credit to your hotel. Luas stop was right outside the hotel which was very useful, especially when going to and from the concert. I hope to return again!
I would just like to leave a review for a young lady Jenita who looked after me and my family as we stayed in the hotel as we were travelling to attend a funeral in Dublin on the 17th, the service we got was outstanding, she couldn’t of done enough for me and my family, we couldn’t find a taxi to take 12 people to Mount Jerome but she somehow managed to do so, to drop and collect us from the graveyard as I had my elderly parents travelling with us so that we can come back to the hotel for food and get our bags back as we were flying back that evening, she’s extremely guests focused, if you could please pass this review onto her if possible. Thank you so much and I will be returning when I am back in Ireland. Regards Sarah Raphael
Such a disappointing stay. Queuing at reception. Unfriendly receptionist. Arrived at five to be told they were not serving bar food and their restaurant was fully booked! Room was fine but the balcony was a disgrace. Dirty and sand spilling out from a sandbag holding the door open. Came back from concert to massive queues at the bar no system or efficiency. Total confusion about room service - we were rudely told by the receptionist that there was no menu it was pizza or toasted sandwiches. Ended up having to go back out to Eddie Rockets for food. Overall very disappointing, overpriced, rude staff, no organisation. Not staying there again.
Chose to stay due to proximity of 3arena. Check in, rooms, cleanliness all very good. We enjoyed some drinks before & after our concert. Unfortunately some of the bar staff are inexperienced. Bar was busy - service was questionable. Checkout was cold, a simple thanks is not hard.
Went in for a pre-concert drink. €10.50 for a glass of wine served by the most disinterested server on the planet - after waiting nearly ten minutes to be served. 'Rip off republic' alive and well in the Gibson!
Went to the bar with my daughter just to have a tea and possibly a snack. I ordered my tea for me and my 5 year old and before me or my daughter could even have a sip of our tea we were slapped with the bill. God forbid we wanted to order anything else before we paid our bill. Having worked in the hotel industry for over a decade I’ve never seen a place where you’re made pay for anything before even having a taste. Made me feel embarrassed as when I looked around I didn’t see anybody else having to pay their bill right away. Many other people came in ordered their coffees sat enjoyed it. Left me feel as if i was singled out as somebody who may run off on their bill. So to feel like that in a place that supposedly prides itself on ‘taking responsibility for getting thing right’ doesn’t sit right with me. The only thing keeping this experience from being a 1 star is the fun my daughter had in the glass elevator. She absolutely loved it. So the smile on her face when she went up and down the lift barely bumped this experience up to a 2 star.…
I’ll start with a positive first! The location of the hotel is good for the 3 Arena and a walk into the city centre. Now the downside. The hotel itself lacks character. Check in staff were unfriendly and unwelcoming. Yes we checked in at 10pm but it was as if it was a inconvenience, thought maybe this was just tiredness on behalf of the receptionist but next morning same attitude of ‘no interest’ from a different lady. Bed is so uncomfortable, very hard. For some reason the hotel do not issue receipts on check out which we requested, never heard of that before, was informed it was because the booking was through Booking.com!! Guests should be given a receipt clarifying what has been paid, not good enough. Won’t be returning!
Stayed here for the John Bishop gig. It's so handy & saves trying to get a Luas or taxi when it's so busy after a show. Checked in the afternoon of the show had dinner & drinks which were reasonalbly priced, staff were excellent & room very comfy. Will be bcak again
I stayed at the Gibson hotel for almost 3 weeks Service was really great. Staff was really friendly. Jenita was the first person who assisted me from checking me into the hotel, providing the relevant information. She went out of her way to assist me with anything that I required Her friendly and kind nature, definitely stands out. Gibson hotel, you are definitely lucky to have her on your team.
