We were in this hotel for four nights with this tour, and two of those nights were ruined by proms which were held on successive nights. Many of us were kept awake until the early hours. The hotel is rather dated and a lot less smart than the sister hotel next door. The staff were pleasant and helpful but this... More

We stayed two nights here in June. We were awaken at 1:15 in the morning the first night by loud voices and fighting outside our room which faced the town circle. This went on for 2 hours. Next morning we asked reception why Police wasn't called. The response was nothing happened out there. This is a hotel for older people.... More

We stayed in the Abbey in July 2016, friends were getting married in the mill park hotel and all the rooms were booked up. We did not spend much time at the hotel and I am glad of that. We checked in without any problems and the staff were lovely. It is often said bad service can ruin a good... More

This is an old hotel with lots of charm. Reception staff very helpful. We took the bargain with a three course meal. The starter was good. The rest was not! Overcooked steak, killed vegetables, ordinary desert. The breakfast was served like on an assembly line and without taste.

Stayed in the Abbey in May 2016. Hotel is a great location, right in the centre of the town! Close to all local bars and great music in the bar itself! Our room was spacious but very old fashioned and basic and no view but we didnt expect much with such a cheap price! Staff were very helpful and friendly.... More

It takes some effort to destroy a Cajun Chicken Caesar Salad but the talented chef at the Abbey managed it. FYI Chef, a Caesar is made with FRESH Cos Lettuce, not iceberg; FRESH Breast of Chicken marinated in cajun spices, not spicy chicken goujons and Ideally, ideally the anchovy dressing tastes nice, not disgusting. Other than that all the staff... More
