My parents came over to visit me in Ireland, and the first thing that they asked it was: " Can you book again for us the Butter Market House Bed and Breakfast ?" . They stayed here 3 years ago, and they still remember the great experience that they had. Martin gives to the whole experience an extra mile: a gentleman that is enjoying to let you taste the Irish culture. We definitely reccomend this B&B to everyone!
Although this was the smallest room we stayed in and the only one without a private bathroom, when we left Ireland, my mother, my daughter, and I agreed that this was our favorite stay. Martin is an amazing host who brought Ireland to life! The location was amazing. Don't leave without ringing the bells in the church across the street. The accommodations were spotless and breakfast was delicious! This is the place we will most fondly remember!
It was difficult for me to give this B&B just an average rating because Martin is such a pleasant host and deserves a 5. He was always ready to lend a helping hand and was a great storyteller. But I wasn't happy with my single bedroom nor the shared bathroom. The big double bed took up virtually all the space in the bedroom. Sitting anywhere was a cramped experience and the only place to put my carry-on luggage is on the floor or on a chair. The shower is probably the worst I've ever experienced. There was so little water and almost no pressure. Worse, it fluctuated between very hot and very cold randomly. Breakfast included the usual 4 B&B options in Ireland: Irish breakfast (sausages, bacon, eggs, pudding, tomato, toast)/bacon & eggs/ porridge, etc. The location is quite good as you're virtually in the city but away from traffic and pedestrian noise. However, it's an old wooden building so you'll clearly hear guests walking up the stairs and shutting their doors. If you're driving, it's really tricky to get to because of the very tight street and very limited parking spaces. You'll have to park on a nearby street and rely on the good man, Martin, to help you drive and park your car off-street.…
Great people, nice b and b on the right location. But if you have to share the bathroom 80 euros is worth it. You can park your bikes in a locked garage. Walk also up the hill to the cathedral. 12345678
My boyfriend and I stayed here during our bank holiday weekend trip to Cork. The B&B was a wonderful base for exploring the beautiful city of Cork, and we would definitely return here in the future. Martin was a fantastic host and made us feel very welcome, and provided us with some knowledge and advice around the local area. Would definitely recommend!
