Through the summer it's a busy pub attracting locals and visitors. It's a 5 min walk from the pier (which is 10 mins by ferry from Baltimore). The large marina attracts plenty of boats, and many come for a day or two and stay a while. It's a place people come year after year. Food is good with daily specials... More

The hotel is on a stunning location over looking the harbour, right next to the ferry stop. The island is idyllic with gorgeous beaches. The hotel is basic but has very large clean and simple rooms with a flat screen TV. The restaurant has lovely fresh fish, i had baked hake and chips and my husband a sirloin steak with... More

Such a beautiful location, bar could do with updating, bar food is very average indeed, I ordered 3 different main courses over my time here and you always feel you could do better yourself..... outside the hotel had fantastic views, one of the nicest places in West Cork I have seen, shame the outdoor are is not well maintained, in... We've been several times to the Islander's Rest with a group of friends for a week in the summer. We've always had a marvellous time, on/off and in the water. Comfortable, clean rooms with fantastic views over to Baltimore; especially in the bar and breakfast room. There's always something to watch, whether its the ferries going back and forth or... More

We've stayed at the Islander's Rest several times and it's ALWAYS great. Clean tidy rooms with some of the best views in Ireland...you could stand all day just looking out the window! The food was delicious especially the fish which was so fresh and beautifully cooked with 3 different types of vegetables. We had a lovely hot breakfast freshly cooked by... More

For the price you pay for the rooms and food you would expect it to be much higher standard, talk about taking advantage of the tourist that come to Sherkin, if you are visiting the island make sure to bring your own picnic, much better restaurants in the main land of Baltimore and more value for money.

While staying on Sherkin to conduct a Vocal Seminar, I had the privilege of staying at the Islanders Rest. Mark Murphy and his staff could not be more accommodating and generous. My living quarters were clean and spacious and the view of Baltimore Harbor is breathtaking!!! The food, especially the fresh seafood is delicious and plentiful!! Looking forward to returning... Travelled with a large family group and everyone was really pleased with every aspect of this accommodation. The food was yum and excellent value. The service was friendly and efficient. The rooms were clean and well appointed. Absolutely no complaints.

We ate here today and we were not impressed with the food. 2.50 for a basket of bread which consisted of 3 slices of stale white sliced pan. No soda bread, homemade brown bread etc which we expected but the bread wasn't even fresh. I complained to the waitress who brought me some slightly less staler bread. I asked about... More

Superb setting overlooking the bay. Excellent food, friendly staff, rooms basic but views and situation more than make up for it. Island itself is beautiful to walk around, very clean and litter free, unspoilt beaches to explore. A real gem!
