Had the fish soup of the day (hot smoked salmon with cream of cauliflower) and the chicken Mayo sandwich, followed by the chocolate brownie! It was all superb but the brownie was amazing; so dense! Really good. Had a really nice beer that claims to be the champagne of beers and a glass of red. We ended lunch with teas... More

we have just spent two idyllic nights at the Argyle Hotel. Everything about it was lovely, from the location, the food and the way we were looked after by the staff. Their ethos of blending in with local culture and the environment was felt throughout our stay, but without any compromise to comfort. A very special place indeed.

I stayed at the Argyll Hotel on Iona for six nights in August 2016 and had a lovely stay. The room—a single garden view (which really is a lovely view!)—was not snazzy, but the bed was extremely comfortable, the bathroom was clean and everything worked, and there were tea and coffee amenities, so I had everything I needed! Everyone working... More

I stayed here 7 years ago when it was under different management and always wanted to come back, and I finally got here this August. The rooms and been refurbished to a high standard and our room in particular was beautiful, spacious and views to die for. The bed was SO comfortable, if it wasn't that there was so much to... More

Having read the reviews this hotel sounded wonderful especially the restaurant. Unfortunately it wasn't. I have never left a review anywhere before, but feel compelled to write about this restaurant. I like fish, but the starter of monkfish was poorly cooked. I should have left it at that, but went on to have the main course of duck, which was... More

There is little in the way of ambience at the argyll on Iona, but the staff are friendly, and the food they do offer at lunch time (only sandwiches and soups) is tasty and serves a purpose. Scotch broth particularly good. The cake selection for tea was great, and I don't think I've seen larger scones. It's just a shame... More

This was a wonderful stay. We have often been in Iona and frequently stayed in the Argyll Hotel in the past but this was fantastic. The hotel has been refurbished since we were last there some 3 years ago and rooms were so well appointed. En suites were beautiful. Staff were really friendly and helpful. All meals were lovely. We... More

Wonderful location! Wonderful tea and coffee! Scones just right. Cakes just right. Biscuits just right. Accommodating to the children just wanting milk to drink. Good service. Very happy family.....Look forward to coming back again one day to try out more on their menu.

I enjoyed my first meals at the Argyll many years ago when my husband came for a visit while I was volunteering in the Iona Community. They were superb - local ingredients prepared with an international flair. I have been back a few time since, including this past week, and I still give this restaurant top ratings.

During our 23 day trip of the UK the Argyll was a definite highlight. It is completely devoid of amenities like noisy pools, raucous pubs, televisions and radios in your room. Instead it has a simply gorgeous view of the sea and the Isle of Mull, lots of fresh air, miles of walks and the best food we had during... More
