Stayed at hotel and dined while on friends golf trip. Staff is amazing from helping on local reservations to dining service. Great balance of quality food, comfortable bar, and very clean rooms. This is a popular spot with local and out of town guests. Great base for golf outings and visiting local attractions. Thanks!

Visited the Chestnuts on Saturday evening. When I telephoned to book a table I was advised that there was one in the Garden Room. However, the two of us were in the small Conservatory by ourselves, which was fine but terribly noisy from the other parties, which I presume was the 'Garden Room'. I ordered the Goats Cheese, but you...

this is a really nice hotel, situated just a few hundred yards from the beech. Bedrooms are well appointed, menu large and variety and a nice stock of beers to compliment the beer garden. My "acid test" is the cooked breakfast - passed with flying colours with no hot buffet rubbish here!! Finally - the price is right, £45 for...

We stayed for 4 nights at Chestnuts, and I enjoyed every second. The room was small but comfortable, and beautifully clean. Breakfast is cooked to order so is piping hot and plentiful. We ate in the restaurant with some local friends and everyone was most impressed with the food and the service. All of the staff are friendly, helpful and...

Very welcoming check-in and bags taken to our room which was the same one as last time overlooking the entrance. Reserved a table in the bar and had a very...

Whilst staying in Ayr on a camping trip with friends we visited for Sunday lunch. We had not booked, just called ahead and were advised lunch in the restaurant was fully booked but we could be accommodated in the bar if we were in before 1230 which suited us fine. Considering our party consisted of 10 adults and 10 kids...

Very disappointed at our dinner on Friday. I had creamy mushroom starter, no cream and very bland and over priced at £6.75 for about 4 mushrooms cut up and a small slice of bread. My husband had prawns which were very basic for the price.. Main meals not great Seabass over cooked, my Cajun chicken was edible but no better...
