I entered this hotel on Sunday 17th May as a key worker. What a huge disappointment it was. I arrived at the hotel at about 2 in the afternoon, and for obvious reasons the main door was locked, but it was soon opened by a male. He opened the door with one hand whilst watching something on his phone in the other hand. He didn't say anything he just went back to his seat (not behind reception) and sat down. I noticed an envelope on the recetion desk with my name on it, so picked it up and then asked him about eating arrangements. He mumbled something, but it wasn't any language i could understand. As i walked up the stairs i noticed that it was a cold place and the carpets were threadbare in places and ruffled in others. My room was a huge disappointment. The furniture was very basic, the towels were threadbare, the bath did not have a chain on the plug, the radiator would only go up to 29oC, the wall mounte TV was very loose, there was dust EVERYWHERE, even inside the kettle there was dust sat on top of the water, one of the windows was screwed shut, the screws that held the door handle to the door were protruding and i scartched my fingers trying to open the door, but the icicng on the cake was there was smashed glass on the ground from a broken window on the ground floor. I didn't even unpack my bags i walked downstairs, but the person who let me in was nowhere to be found so i left my key on the front desk and left. Please do yourselves a favour and avoid this place. Everything i have written is the truth. The building itself looks quite grand, but it needs lots of money to get it up to a decent standard.

Stayed for 2 nights, great value for money. The hotel looks fab from the outside but is very tired inside but comfortable. The floors are all a bit uneven which could be a problem for elderly people and those who might have walking problems. The room was a good size but the decor is really tired. One main downside is that there is no telephone in the room to contact reception so if you have a problem you have to go down!! In this day and age I found this strange. Food ok.

As per the title, beautiful building, lovely room and fantastic staff. But cold to the extent that it took two stand alone heaters to warm up my room. then when I put the kettle and tried to watch TV the circuit breaker blew.. Great potential - but needs TLC and serious upgrade. When I was staying there the painters had arrived... So clearly work is in progress.

Fabulously spacious hotel in perfect location. Truly great value for money. Breakfast in particular was impressive - especially the pain au chocolat. To top things off, Amy in reception was delightful: pleasntness personified and very professional. Highly recommended.

Stayed with a friend on 4th March 2020, rooms were extremely cold. Complained twice to reception and got two different versions (heating on timer and heating on thermostat) given a small fan heater that was too noisy to use. Asked to speak to the Manager to be told they would not be in until 11.am. Left our complaint with reception and emailed the Hotel with the same. 10 says later still no response from the hotel (they claim on their webpage that they always respond within 24 hours). DO NOT STAY HERE.
