Stayed at the hotel with a group of friends over four nights. Old style of hotel with no lift to the upper floors which made carrying cases quite difficult. The room we had on the first floor was large and airy with plenty of light overlooking the bowling green. Bathroom was big but had little shelf space. Unfortunately the windows... More

We stayed here as we were going to a concert at the Beacon Arts Centre which was approx a 20 minute walk away. Lovely spacious room (No16) with a lovely decor and ensuite bathroom. We decided to have dinner in the hotel as the menu was appetising. We chose from the specials menu & we're glad we did. The meal... More

At a time when small hotels are struggling and closing all over Scotland all credit to the the present owners for investing to bring it up to fine standard. Having visited first for my wedding as a "wise man for the east" it remains the venue of choice for my wife's family for all family occasions. A private room is... More

I booked a single room for one person, so I was expecting a single room, but some of the rooms (or at least mine) are family rooms with a thin dividing door. I did notice the door on arrival, but assumed it was a service door or cupboard. I wasn't told this at the booking stage or during check in.... More

Room was comfortable and pleasant. Public rooms quite large and impressive. Staff helpful and friendly. Arrived too late (about 8:40pm on a Friday) to eat at hotel restaurant. Finding the hotel back entrance from the car park was puzzling for a few minutes. A sign/pointer would have been useful. Sat in the hotel bar for a while. Quite good beer.

My husband has stayed here many times in the past and commented on the newly refurbished look, which was good. The room was pleasant, although the bed was only 4'6" and with most hotels you sort of expect something 5' or bigger it is two beds pushed together. However very comfortable and we slept well. The food in the bar... More

Stayed 3 nights as part of an organised tour earlier this week- therefore difficult to move elsewhere. Had a flood in the bathroom as shower waste unable to cope with water flow and no noticeable air extraction meaning everything got steamed up. Also no toilet roll holder just a stacker which was under the sink and meant any spillage of... More

What a fantastic venue! Me and my husband had our wedding here yesterday and we can not thank the tontine staff enough. From the day we booked our wedding right up until the big day the staff here couldn't do enough, we would highly recommend the tontine to anyone, the renovations were completed and the place looks amazing. Diane is... More
