Had a lovely two day stay at the Newton hotel . The room we got was nice and big and so was the bathroom Yes some of the furniture is abit dated but not worn but I think it adds something to the hotel Dinner was lovely and big portions Only had one problem with this hotel which stops it... More

Great building, full of history. Staff fine. Room very spacious. Bed comfortable. Huge grounds, with mature trees and gardens. But unable to access wifi, despite many attempts. Room was clammy at night, with no air con or room fan, and one of the 2 windows not opening as was under repair.. Noisy extractor fan outside, on the hotel roof?

This hotel looks great from the outside, the grounds are lovely, it is a great setting. Most of the staff were really helpful, one or two less attentive, but nothing to really worry about. The main disappointment for me was the room. It is looking very tired inside, could do with a revamp. It still has an old analogue tv... More

My wife and I stayed here during our CIE Taste of Scotland tour. The grounds were lovely, the hairy cows were what I wanted to see on the trip. I did try to pet on but that wasnt going to happen, he tried to hook me. The hotel is within a 10 minutes to the Narin, North Sea beach. The... More

Thanks very much for your review. We are glad you enjoyed your stay with us. You would have been staying in one of our executive family rooms, which has bunk beds in there to cater for their needs. Sorry you didnt enjoy the bed, it is a zip link king size bed. We hope you enjoyed the rest of Scotland. More

So my wife and I went to the Newton Hotel today for Sunday lunch - we arrived at 1415 hrs and were amazed that the waitress was so rude my wife actually apologized for being an inconvenience. NEVER have we left a restaurant before placing an order because the service was so terrible!!! She barged through us to write our... More

Going by the price, we thought that we were booking a luxury hotel. In reality, it was Fawlty Towers without Basil. When we found our suite (along long corridors and up and down several short flights of stairs), we laughed uncontrollably for several minutes, so outrageously dated was the decoration and furniture. On the plus side, everything was spotlessly clean... More

This Hotel used have an AA 4 Star rating. The Hotel special offer claimed the price as two for one. This would make the normal room rate at £158.00. The room we were given whilst clean and comfortable was very dated and tired. The television was an old style 20" set with a faulty ariel connection and therefore a poor... More

thanks very much for your review. we are glad you found your stay good overall. I am confused about your comments saying that desserts/coffees came with an additional cost. If you were booked on a DBB basis, a three-course dinner with coffee and tablet is included in your package. Steaks and our cheeseboard are charged with a small supplement, but... More

This was a fun hotel to stay in. They have done a fairly good job of updating the rooms with more modern amenities. The food in the hotel restaurant was good. I suggest walking around and exploring the area around the hotel. Especially walking down to the beach front. The staff could have been a little friendlier during the dinner... More

We stayed here just the one night and would have liked to have stayed longer. The hotel is in a lovely setting and is a grand old building steeped in local history. The only room available for our quite late booking was a suite and whilst it was a lovely room, there were things lacking. The shower for one thing... More
