At the modest price of £75 room during the high season in Fort William my expectations were not that high and so it proved. The house is clean, bed comfortable, refurbished bathroom fine (no toiletries) but drab decor gives the place a gloomy feel. The place feels like it lacks a woman touch when it comes to niceties. Breakfast was... More

My partner and I stayed in the bay window en-suite facing the water. This property looks stunning from the outside, but once you get in, it's just bad. The whole house needs upgrading in decor. It looks like the place got stuck between 1880 and 1980 and couldn't quite compromise. . The "en-suite" is actually a closet built into the... More

First the things that were OK- the room was clean with a new carpet, bed comfortable & bathroom had been refurbished. Second - the things that weren't OK -the entrance hall had a very musty smell - like stale cigarettes , the proprietor was a little odd & left me standing in the hall with my bags with no offer... We stayed for two nights in the ground floor room at the back. Room and en-suite were spotless and the bed was very comfortable. IRO previous reviews, BBC channels were missing from the TV so I retuned and there they were. I covered the mirror that was behind the TV with a sweatshirt. The extractor fan in the en-suite does work... More

This could be a stunning property with serious upgrading. We are travelling around Scotland on our honeymoon and were completely dismayed at this Guest House when we arrived. A smell on entering which was quite unpleasant. Owner hardly spoke to us. Our ground floor room had old furniture, stained sheet (although had been laundered), sheet under duvet, which duvet cover... The building looks impressive from the outside (contrary to what one reviewer said, the photo is of this B&B, but it's taken from across the road over the grass verge near the water), but immediately inside the place seems dismal and drab which does not instil much confidence. The room itself (number 4) was large with a lovely updated bathroom,... More

Please ignore all the reviews claiming that this is a luxury high end b & b, because having returned from a 10-day trip through Scotland staying in a different b & b every night, this was by far the worst place we stayed. The good news is that this was exception to the normally very nice places we stayed during... More

We stayed here for one night whilst touring the area, the room was lovely, quality bedding , comfy bed and modern shower room. There was plenty to choose from for breakfast , would definitely stay again. A short walk from the centre of town no need for a taxi.

As with another recent reviewer I cannot understand what the gripes are with this property (unless it was a one-off issue). Building perhaps early Victorian or Georgian but very sympathetically restored and kept, external painting had started as we left. Lovely huge rooms. We had room 2 at the front with huge bay window and glorious view over the loch.... More

dont know what the gripes are with this place. its an old georgian merchants house traditionally built and modernised sympathetically with large airy bedrooms ours as quiet looking onto large garden and shielded from road noise. .we found it to be spotlessly clean and no problems with any aspect of our stay- breakfast was freshly cooked to order and hadnt...
